Mike Huckabee: Popular but not seen as presidential [Head-to-head: Hillary 56 Huckabee 39]

Former Fox News host and Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is arguably the most popular Republican candidate for president in 2016.

A July Gallup poll showed him as the most well-liked among Republicans, and he even had not-terrible numbers among Democrats (compared to the other GOP contenders).

But that doesn't make him the GOP's top 2016 hope. Not hardly.

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows Huckabee, who will appear on multiple Sunday shows this weekend as he launches a nationwide book tour, trails Hillary Clinton 56-39 in a prospective 2016 matchup among registered voters. By comparison, the Post-ABC poll has also surveyed Rand Paul, Jeb Bush and Chris Christie in separate polls in 2014, and none trailed by as much as Huckabee does now.

Clinton leads him by 17 points among political independents, by 27 among moderates and even by 18 among Huckabee's fellow southerners.

The former secretary of state even takes 27 percent of the white evangelical vote -- an overwhelmingly Republican demographic and the lifeblood of Huckabee's 2008 campaign, which won the Iowa caucuses and seven other states before losing the nomination to Sen. John McCain.

The phone conservative e Huckabee’s ONLY reason for entering the 2016 race would be to drain some gullible conservative votes from Ted Cruz.

We need to UNITE in our support of the constitutional conservative Ted Cruz for 2016...and we need to do it EARLY.

Ted Cruz has a better ‘unfavorable’ among Dems than Bush.
It must have caused PMS cramps at WP to print that.

Not Presidential? Not even compared to the present White House resident?

Hillary 56 vs. Huckabee 39. Goes to show you just how far America has slid into the sewer with the influx of so many foreign freeloaders. Slick Willie’s loony, old nag can beat Huckabee 56 to 39.

He would also be a tame VP pick who can be touted as a social conservative who "isn't mean". I think that is what he really wants.

His problem is, never see the guy angry, I think someone advised the Republican’s that they are perceived as angry white guys.

No Passion, No Fire, ... they don’t have to be soft mush they are.

Meaningless and probably inaccurate poll meant to structure a liberal media statement around made up “news.”

Head-to-Head: Hillary 56 Huckabee 39

How about head to arse since that's where they both usually keep them.

All these polls are useless. Polling will become relevant when there are a few debates to look at!!!

Huckabee chooses to kick off his presidential campaign with a crusade against Beyoncé and Jay Z? Is he kidding?
