The Hollywood Reporter calls it a “shocker” that a patriotic movie by one of the best directors working today, about an American hero who kills jihadists, is really, really popular. To me, that sounds like a formula for success, but Hollywood still thinks tender stories about gay males coming of age are what the public demands, along with cartoonish special effects-laden, nine-figure-budget mind candy.

Selma’s negative response is probably due to many folks in general probably sick and tired and fed up with black rhetoric on all the injustices they have faced and especially when most realize they have been given way too much and continue to squander the gifts they receive.
It certainly signals a shift in the American psyche.
To bad America signed on to 6 years of BS that made these mens service a waste of blood and tears.
One of the silver linings of Obama being elected President is that it spells the beginning of the end of the race-grievance industrial complex.
Maybe okra wimpfrees march today will crank up the selma receipts. Nah!

I knew from the get go that Eastwood would do a good job directing and keep all the pc crap out of the film. Fantastic film!

On the heels of Selma, Kevin Costner has a movie coming out where he has a bi-racial grandchild that he’s raising and the other grandmother is demanding custody so she can be raised in a black home. And yes, the grandmother said a few things about white people that whites could not say about blacks. I saw the previews before a December movie but I did not see the preview before last night’s American Sniper. I wonder if it’s been delayed due to the race-fatigue everyone is experiencing?
Yup. And sadly, I still see priuses with obie stickers on them like little badges of honor from BOTH (s)elections. Proving that ignorance knows no limits.
Saw American Sniper last night. Crowds are huge - couldn’t get into the 4 pm show and had to sit in the second row for the 7 pm show. Very good movie. Crowd was mainly senior citizens but they applauded when it was over.
I absolutely agree with your statement. The America I was raised in is DEAD! The philosophy of eating, drinking, drugging, evacuating the bowels, copulating, snoring and The Games all at another’s expense has taken root.
At a Christmas party one of my diehard lefty neighbors said, “I don’t want to hear anything out of blacks anymore. Just shut up already.”
