Before we talk of a balanced budget, the size of government MUST decrease:
1. Dept. of Ed. - return power to states, eliminate.
2. Dept. of Energy - useless, eliminate
3. IRS - political, replace with flat tax.
4. DoD - reduce, eliminate all armchair generals and admirals
5. NSA - serious cutback, no warrants, no spying on Americans.
6. EPA - no rule making that adds cost.
7. Dept. of Labor - outlived usefulness, eliminate.
8. Dept. of Commerce - eliminate or 50% reduction.
9. Limit Congress to three staffers.
10. No more unanimous consent for reading bills.
That’s just for starters. All other departments, EXCEPT military forces, cut 25% AND people cannot be rehired.
THEN we can talk about balanced budgets.
You mean a military to protect our borders and (immediate) national interests, instead of nation building, winning ‘hearts and minds’ and being the world’s police force (exactly what is the U.N. doing that we’re paying big $$)?
Boy, *I* sure am.
Bingo. Without a return to the Constitution, a ‘balanced budget’ only gets us higher taxes to pay for all the ‘freebies’ to be given out.
Not that we’ve had a budget passed since the Bush years...so how will THAT jive with the amendment as well??
