s they have almost every Friday for two years, Muslim students gathered at Duke University’s chapel for weekly prayers at midday Friday..

But a university plan to sound the prayer call from the Duke University Chapel’s 210-foot bell tower for the first time was hastily called off Thursday in the face of anti-Islamic tirades on social media and what a school official described as credible concerns about security.

Instead, the call to prayer, or adhan, was sounded in Arabic and English on Friday from a small portable speaker set up on the chapel steps. Many among the hundreds of students who gathered condemned Duke’s about-face and demanded more religious tolerance.

The private university, founded by Methodists, intended the broadcast as a gesture of the school’s commitment to religious diversity. Instead, it exposed a religious fault line.

So Duke students are protesting favor of the Muslim call to prayer? Will these same students rally with Christians in opposing the HHS Mandate? Alos whaere’s the ACLU and the secular miliants? Are they offended by Muslims?

I object to not sounding the Chapel Bells for Sunday Christian Services.

The argument will be won by whoever has the most money and better coverage in the media. The resolution will have nothing to do with relevance to American culture, history or traditions. Welcome to the corrosive reality of “multiculturalism”.

Dhimmis. They just think anything "different" from tradition must be call. Hell, that's how we got Obama.

These damn fools.

Let’s see one Islamic university allow any sort of Christian activity on its campus. Let’s see one Mosque anywhere in the world allow a Christian hymn to be sung in it. Let’s see one new church be given a construction permit in Saudi Arabia or Iran.

Multiculturalism is a one way street, and that street is heading exclusively towards submission.

...He {Imam Adeel Zeb} said he would pray for those who had castigated Muslims, “because that’s what Muslims do.”

No they don't, they kill infidels

“...and what a school official described as credible concerns about security.”

So...someone threatened to decapitate a prayer attendee, detonate a car bomb out front, blow away people in the prayer room with AK-47’s, stone them to death, throw acid in their face, or whip them 1000 times?

No? Then, what? What could be scarier than that?

Oooooh...I see. Someone threatened to withhold a donation to the school. OK...I got it. What barbarians.

This is written to put the onus of everything on the people who oppose it. Not a word about how the chapel bells don’t ring constantly or that there is no shofar blown from the Duke President’s office to mark the Jewish High Holy Days. Like most items from the “press”, it is an advocacy hit piece. This is why I no longer read the US “newspaper” and instead get my news from Fox, the British Newspapers, and Breitbart, among other online services.

These jackasses have never had to listen to it on a regular basis. One of the most grating, claws-on-the-chalkboard noises know to man or beast.

We salute Rev. Franklin Graham, who stood in the breach and summoned others to stand against the sacrilege of having pagans worship in a chapel dedicated to the worship of Jesus Christ.
