Should have suspended the defender who allowed the two points. :)

Unique little snowflakes must NEVER feel bitter disappointment much less embarrassment. It might cause them to question their uniqueness and undergo melting.

I am STILL laughing over that. Oh my gosh!! You have expressed the sentiment exactly!! Bravo, sir!!

And if you don't mind, I'm going to steal and use your description of those poor little lost souls. :)

Feel free ;) I’m far from the first to express the general thought itself. But ultimately thats what it boils down to regardless of wording.

Funny, I just came from a girl’s JV game where my daughter’s team was getting stomped.

Behind 45-11 with two minutes to play, the other team kept hitting 3 pointers. Somebody said our team should complain to the league.

To me, they should punch the next 3-point shooter in the mouth. But that’s just me.

Should have suspended the defender who allowed the two points. :)

The score was 104-1 at halftime, so we may surmise that the losing team scored only two free throws, and no field goals.

The player(s) for the winners who committed the fouls resulting in points should be benched for the next game.

I agree that the suspension was uncalled for (probably), but geeze I'd be embarrassed as the coach, and as the players, to win by that score. Sure, more embarrassing for the losing team, but when you are up 40-2 (or 40-0) you are pretty pleased with yourself with your execution and hot streak. Then when it gets to 50-2 you start figuring something is not right. At 60-2 it gets to the embarrassing threshold. The Refs should have stopped the ‘game’. TKO, or something...

So who missed the free throw?

I think you are slandering women coaches. Long ago, in my youth, I went to a quite small 4-year liberal arts college. I was on the basketball team. (One of the advantages of going to a small school. In a big school, I would have never made the team!) The college could only afford two coaches, one male and one female. The female coach coached both basketball teams. She definitely did not like losing. And, she wasn’t nice if you broke training or let your grades fall. For the size of the school, both male and female basketball teams were pretty darned good!

What was his team supposed to do? Stand there? If the opposing coach thought enough was enough he could and should have simply conceded the game. Unless the winning team was breaking rules to win then it was simply a win. Someone is mismatching the teams game schedules it sounds like. IOW they should be playing a more skilled division. Problem solved.

I think slandering might be a strong term. Just having some fun with stereotypes.

Look, if people have a problem with one team crushing another, I believe it is up to the referees to stop the game. They are the game officials. Coaches are coaches. The coach here put in his bench players.

Should it have been allowed to go on like this even to halftime? If not, the refs should have called it and ended it. Not the coaches.

I thought the same thing. It would have been sportsmanlike to take a kneel down instead of scoring that last TD. Apparently it never crossed his mind.

If they’re afraid to lose, why are they playing?

If the coach thought it was out of hand, he should have thrown in the towel.

I’ve been a coach for 40 years and if this jerk thinks his players are working on their press against a team that obviously is not above a third grade team he is just plain and simple -an ass. Years ago I was coaching an 8th grade team that was loaded. We travelled 60 miles for a game and when we got there the AD stated that we would play the B game first which was not the way it was scheduled because his A team planned on playing the second game. Well, we had B team parents that hadn’t even left home for the game and if the B game was played first then our team would have had some pretty pissed off parents because the B game would have been over when they finally got to the gym. My solution was that my A team would play against his B team. I promised we wouldn’t press and I told my team that they could only shoot an open layup. We essentially used it as a practice and still won 45-12. By the time their A team arrived at the gym the first game was nearly over and our B team played them and lost by 3 points. We helped their B team save some face, had a great game in the 2nd game of the night, and avoided a LOT of potential pissed off parents. Some coaches are too ESPNized and forgot they are teachers too. Yes kids need to learn some tough lessons but nothing is learned from a 161-2 annihilation.

Why do you think the losing coach didn’t step in and stop the game, or why not the refs?

OK, I though about that for a moment, and realize I know little to nothing of the game.

They most likely were powerless to stop it.
