Supreme Court to Decide Whether Constitution Protects Same-Sex Marriage

Decision Later This Year Could Extend Gay Marriage to All 50 States or Cloud Existing Unions

WASHINGTON—The Supreme Court on Friday said it would decide whether the U.S. Constitution gives same-sex couples the right to marry, signaling what could be the final chapter of a push by advocates to extend gay unions nationwide.

The court accepted challenges to same-sex marriage bans in four states—Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee—that a federal appeals court upheld in November 2014. The ruling by the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati departed from recent decisions by other appeals courts that found same-sex couples enjoyed a right to marry under the 14th Amendment’s equal-protection and due-process provisions.

The justices are taking up the issue in the middle of the court’s current term after having earlier rejected pleas by states to reinstate marriage restrictions that appellate courts had found unconstitutional. The Sixth Circuit ruling, the first to uphold the restriction of marriage to heterosexuals, created a split among the court circuits that didn’t exist in October, making it more likely the Supreme Court could get involved.

The court agreed to hear two specific constitutional questions on same-sex marriage laws and will hear extended arguments.

I agree, Our states should thank the Federal Employees for their opinion before reminding them absence an Enumerated power on marriage their opinion is of no more consequence than that of any citizens opinion.

Any State or federal official who tries to enforce such an edict should be prosecuted and fired for unlawful behavior.

This is what Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, and even Lincoln did, why shoulder we do the same? The only problem we have is the jackbooted traitors in the military who will uses force to impose their lawless edicts.

we must set forth on a path to destroy those jackboots both politically and physically no matter what else happens from their absence we cannot defend the forces of tyranny at home even if we were so at threat overseas as to require their unwavering defense(we are not at this time) what difference does it make when they have proven themselves the tools inclined to do just as much damage to our constitution and way of life in their lawless condition as any foreign enemy would?

A solder who is not an oath-keeper is no solder at all, but a traitor and threat to the very fabric of our republic in any significant numbers.

If a marriage LICENSE is illegal because it places conditions on the parties applying for the license, is ANY licensing by the state legal? And ALL licensing illegal?

Why has the issue of licensing not entered the discussion of marriage, and gay marriage, and polygamous marriage, and fishing, and hunting, and law practice, and medical practice, and barbering, and cosmetics, and driving?

If I PREFER to drive slow, or drive fast, or on the sidewalks, am I not discriminated against by licensing which dictates that I drive between 45 and 55 and on the paved highway?

If I cannot pass the bar exam, and have NO DESIRE to pass or even take the bar exam, am I not discriminated against by licensing which requires a preference for those smart enough and desirous of passing the bar exam?

Atheists and humanists have secular “celebrants” who can be licensed like clergy to perform ceremonies of union (marriage). They would be affected by state laws regarding same sex marriage.

They’ll decide what they want to decide, by interpreting the way they want it to be and disregarding the actual constitution. They’ll fall to the pressure from the lefties.

Russia, China and the Islamic State are laughing at how we are disintegrating culturally

They ought to be. Between the cultural decay elements and the envirowhacko movement, they have seen their investments come to fruition.

People still don't 'get' asymmetrical warfare...

it does matter because while recognition may be required, it upholds the right of notaries not to have to condone that type of conduct.

It all boils down to whether the USSC will buy the propaganda myth of born that way.
