How do you 'erase' victories which have already occurred?
You keep claiming that Bush stole Florida....do it enough and the usual 40% of the population swallow it.
Same way you say obvious Islamic terrorism "has nothing to do with Islam."
Same way you say global warming is the result of man-made CO2 emissions when there hasn't been any global warming in almost twenty years.
Proposition this-and-that passed by voters later overturned by judges.
I'm not saying that Paterno didn't deserve to be fired, but the way they did it (10 minutes before their public meeting via a phone call) was to deflect blame from Graham Spainer, the PSU President who was the real culprit in the entire affair. By throwing in Paterno's firing (with two football games left in his final season) and giving Spainer, but not Paterno, the opportunity to give the media a nice prepared statement after the meeting, the PSU Board succeeded in making the PSU Football program the scapegoat rather than the sorry, gay-coddling, homo-enabling PSU Administration.
Easy. You apply the same logic in sports that regularly gets applied in politics and statecraft and you can claim anything you want. Oceans are rising and polar bears are dying and games that happened before suddenly never happened that way at all... until they did once again... all by administrative fiat.
I think that's correct. Doping is like running out of a lane in track. You should get DQ'd. No "win".
OTOH, I don't see why Paterno was striped of victories. His total morale failure as a human being who wouldn't defend of Children from Rape is a separate matter from whether or not he somehow cheated in getting the football wins. Yes tear down the statute and take his name off buildings. But unless the awful man somehow cheated at the football wins, the stats should stand.
And the scoundrel never knew he lost them anyway.
