Hot enough for ya? NOAA says 2014 was Earth's warmest [We're all doomed]

Last year was Earth's warmest on record, separate reports by NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released on Friday showed.

Since 1880, when record-keeping began, Earth's average surface temperature has warmed by about 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit, a trend that is largely driven by the increase in carbon dioxide and other human emissions into the planet's atmosphere, NASA said.

If this was the warmest year on record, Greenland would be green.

ROFL!

wow they just wont give it up will they?!

Anyone who walked outside last year knows it was MUCH colder than usual the entire year.

But don’t believe your lying eyes! believe the tree hugger who claims to be a scientist who take the temperature measurements and feeds the fake data into a model with a preconceived outcome!

Interesting since record cold temperatures were being recorded almost daily last winter all across the northern hemisphere and the antarctic set records for the amount of see ice both for thickness and amount of surface area covered. Houston did not have a 100 degree day all last summer. They must be measuring surface temperature in the Walmart parking lot.

...Earth’s average surface temperature has warmed by about 1.4...

Whenever I see these articles claiming it is the warmest on record, I always look for the words “Surface temperature”.

That is one of the most fallacious stats within the science and useless on it’s own for a variety of reasons.

Adjusting numbers is a piece of cake for these people-—the economy is great, spending is down, unemployment amazingly keeps dropping and now the earth is warming.

All I remember from last year was the most snow and cold ever recorded....

Pretty mild summer down here in Texas, too. Maybe I’m just used to it now.

It didn’t seem that way in Louisiana. I have been hotter here before. Seemed tolerable as usual this year. Our winter is seeming to be long and cold with a few warm days thrown in - nothing earth shattering. We don’t do well in the 20’s (I can’t remember it being below that in these parts) but we have been mostly in the 30’s and 40’s at night where I live. In other words, as far as I’m concerned, business as usual!

The most accurate measurement...the one least influenced by heat islands, methods of measurement, huge data gaps in desolate areas and oceans...

Satellite Data.

Which has existing for a whopping 35 years.

The most accurate measurement method (satellite) has only existed 35 years.

Even today, I have little faith that we are getting accurate ground level measurements across the globe - to include deserts and oceans. I have even less faith in getting good measurements 100 years ago.

The best measurements are satellite...and out of the billions of years this rock has circled the sun, our knowledge base goes back less than a generation.

are we talking about computer models, or actual scientifically proven facts??

Early in the computer rage, a frequent saying to describe computer errors was, “garbage in, garbage out.” I submit this principle still applies and that we are reading about government garbage.

Ha, 1880 was at the end of the Little Ice Age. Of course it has warmed up since then.
