The anti-radical Islam group Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West (PEGIDA) stages a protest every Monday in its native Dresden, Germany. On January 12, however, the group convened its largest rally yet, with 25,000 participants–significantly more due to last week’s terrorist attack in Paris, France. Attendees at the rally posted pictures and videos on social media.

Angela Merkel needs to learn the simple saying of H.L. Mencken: “When man ‘A’ wishes to help man ‘B’ by taking away from man ‘C’, then man ‘A’ is a S.O.B.”
Merkel wishes to help the downtrodden masses of dictatorial Muslim regimes, who were raised under the brutality of Islam and know of no other way, nor wish to learn of any other way; and Merkel wishes to do this at a terrible cost to Germany and the German people. Therefore, Merkel is a S.O.B.

The whole purpose was to calm things down so they could get back to "Business as Usual" quickly, and try to shut out the rising tide of the Right in Europe.
.Or they are scared about what is going on in next door Germany.
All that is needed is a LEADER—and as history tells us—one will rise up. One man to tell the truth, one man to show the way, one leader to return Europe to Greatness. I only hope he will not be another Hitler—maybe a Musolini or a Franco—or even an Evita Peron? (or a Joan of Arc). In the words of Urban II “God wills it!”
Merkel better pay attention to this.
The "rising tide" to which you refer cannot be shut out. Continued violence, instigated by islam, will ensure that. islam, like the proverbial leopard, cannot change its spots.
I agree, but the powers-that-be will pull out all the stops to stop it from happening.
Does the article mention the counter protests that easily dwarfed the anti-immigrant protestors?
