Obama, Branstad, & pipeline stakeholders will get on the same page pretty quickly once everyone's back is properly scratched

If the GOP scumbags pass a gasoline tax in order to stick it to the American people, they might as well send their elephant back to the circus. They’re finished. All the rebranding in the world won’t help their thieving @$$es.

As soon as OPEC drops the price for crude to the point where fracking shuts down, the price will go back way above 100.
It is a long term bet maybe 2 years before they break the frackers back, but write it on the wall, that is the plan.

Yeah, let’s give them more taxes they can piss away on vote buying.
IMO, the federal leach is a beast in dire need of starvation.

GOP is playing this card because they want Keystone. That gas tax? That will be Buffett’s payoff.
I’m sure no one sees this one coming.

I agree that’s the plan. However, they must be a little desperate as their capacity as a percentage of world demand is shrinking. One good supply shock would swamp out their excess pumping capacity.

When the gasoline tax is spent only for roads used by the vehicles that pay for it, and there isn’t enough for maintenance and expansion, we can talk about raising the tax.
But now, the gas tax is funding stupid pet projects like mass transit, bike lanes, and God knows what else. Stop using it as a cash cow for every left-wing wet dream and spend it only on what it was intended for.

Senate Environment and Public Works Chairman James Inhofe (R., Okla.), who just took the reins of the panel, said he is open to considering raising the gas tax as a way to help pay for the dwindling Highway Trust Fund that keeps up the nations roads and other transportation infrastructure. Well have to look at that. Im looking at everythingevery possible way of taking care of the highway bill, said Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch (R., Utah). Senate Commerce Chairman John Thune (R., S.D.), speaking Sunday on Fox News, said he didnt favor raising the gas tax but also said everything should be on the table regarding the highway fund. http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2015/01/08/senate-republicans-higher-gas-taxes-are-on-the-table/
True. They aren't proposing bills- just saying "everything is on the table".
