PARIS — Confronting a nation in shock from last week’s terrorist attacks, the French authorities on Monday began to unveil a broad array of measures to send thousands of soldiers and police officers to guard Jewish schools and other sites, reinforce electronic surveillance and reach into schools and prisons that have a reputation as crucibles of jihadist recruitment.
The display of muscle by a government likely to face mounting questions about its failure to prevent the killings recalled the mood in the United States after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, when authorities embarked on a broad front of measures to tighten security and provide legislation for more intrusive surveillance.
The French response played into an emerging and potentially divisive debate across Europe that pits civil liberties campaigners against the demands of security officials who cite the attacks as evidence of an urgent need to introduce stronger powers to monitor suspects. [...]

The title alone leads me to believe that the end goal for Islamists is a police state.
Have the extant government enslave their people with overwhelming police presence and surveillance, surreptitiously take over the government by incremental Shari’ah law, you now have a compliant populace with a Shari’ah government. Tell the non-believers they have to convert or pay jizya, those who try to leave without conversion are killed, those who remain without converting are killed, et voila!
Christians hate them! Convert your populace to Islam with this one weird trick!
With all the millions on the streets in Paris yesterday they should have all marched to the Muslim section and put all of them on trains and buses back to where they come from..where ever that may be..None of them as far as I know even offered to help police and probably some helped the whore of the black terrorist get out of Paris..She had lots of help..
It’s the left that wants a police state/absolute power and they are using muslim terrorist as their proxy fighters to get it.
The use of domestic terrorist by the radical left in the 1960s and 70s to try and achieve the same goal didn’t work, which is why they got foreign/muslim terrorist to do the deed.
Will they have bicycles and water pistols?
They’re not learning the lessons the Soviets learned in Afghanistan decades ago or those we’re learning now in the same rat hole country: the Islamists ALWAYS win by default, because they’re ruthless and don’t abide by laws or treaties.
France can't possibly have enough "forces" to protect all of France.
Fortunately, only the largest maggot-infested cities (and their Disneyland) need to be protected.
The Countryside can take care of itself (think French Resistance.)
