Nobody from the US govt marched in Paris today… not even Eric Holder
Hot Air ^ | January 11, 2015 | Jazz Shaw

Once the massive unity march in Paris was a definite go, there were more than a few people on social media asking how it was that Barack Obama wasn’t going to be there. I’ll play Devil’s advocate here and just say what we’re all thinking in terms of answering those detractors. Hey… those golf balls ain’t gonna hit themselves, ya know.

Apparently Joe Biden was also busy, but never fear. The President sent Eric Holder. I know he was there because he was doing all of the Sunday shows from Paris. Then cable news ground to a halt for one of the more impressive shots you will ever see; one of the biggest collections of world leaders to be found anywhere, and they were outside in the cold and the rain, locking arms and marching in unity with the people of France as they stood up to Islamic terrorism. Here’s just one of the many media shots which captured the rather historic moment.

(GETTY-PHOTO-AT-LINK)

But wait… isn’t somebody missing from this picture? In what is possibly one of the worst games of Where’s Waldo in history, the fine folks at Weasel Zippers notice that Eric Holder doesn’t seem to be on the scene.

Dana French
@DanaBordeaux

CNN just reported Eric Holder did not attend
#ParisMarch because he was attending high level
meetings. With whom? Everyone was at rally.

11:21 AM - 11 Jan 2015

There’s a photo at the link of Holder with some of the leaders standing on the steps of a building for a photo op, but he was otherwise busy for the actual rally.

Attorney General Eric Holder is in Paris this week to attend a meeting on fighting terrorism, but did not participate in a march with world leaders Sunday to honor the 17 people killed last week in France.

More than 40 world leaders marched arm in arm through Paris to rally for unity and freedom of expression and to honor the victims of the three days of terrorist attacks.

Swinging back to WZ for the full list, here are the world leaders who actually showed up and walked the walk.

Left to right: Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, European Union President Donald Tusk, Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas, Jordan’s Queen Rania, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and other guests

Oh, man. We didn’t even manage to qualify for … and other guests.

Ugh! I can’t stand to look at that evil face!

As for Holder, I was mystified as to why he was even participating in the “security” meeting. He’s the retiring Attorney General, for Pete’s sake, and national or international security has never been the job of that department. In short, sending him even to the meeting was just another insult from Obama.

Notably, our newly elected House Speaker and Senate Majority Leader also elected to not attend.

What a golden opportunity to differentiate yourself from the current Administration.

Of course, Boner and McTurtle didn’t want to risk pi$$ing-off the New York Times.

Probably no one realized until the event itself that the US was not going to be represented at all. It’s a pretty breathtaking international insult and it’s hard to imagine that even Obama would be so cold, arrogant and offensive. But he has exceeded everyone’s expectations with this one.

Ugh! I can’t stand to look at that evil face!

I can't even stand to be around the fools who voted for this muslim poser.

They are either too stupid to be left on their own or too venal to turn your back on.

It doesn't matter which one because the damage they have done to the nation is the same.

Does anyone really expect president trickybitches to actually walk anywhere in public? He didn’t order that tank of a limo, or the raising of the White House fence for nothing.

The winds are blowing dangerously ugly and “the won” is sticking to his pledge of standing with his “muzzies”.

I don’t want the congress doing “hands-on” foreign relations, negotiations, diplomacy and the like. That’s not how our government is set up. I didn’t like it when the Democrats tried it during the Reagan and Dubya administrations and I wouldn’t like it now, despite how much I despise and loathe our current chief magistrate. They are in an oversight, appropriations, legislation and advise & consent role.

Our leaders? Do we have any leaders?

But aside from that. What exactly do people think these other ‘leaders’ were matching for? Do you think they stand against multiculturalism and the destruction of the West? Have any of them advocated reversal of current policies?

“........ more than a few people on social media asking how it was that Barack Obama wasn’t going to be there.”...

He was playing a double round of golf (18 holes back to back) and didn’t have time since he was still on the initial back nine when the march began.

Attending a march like this to demonstrate respect for the victims and concern about the rampant musslim terrorism we all face is a far cry from "doing 'hands-on' foreign relations, negotiations, diplomacy and the like."

There is no reason at all why any member of the legislature, or for the matter the judiciary and any other American as well, should not feel free to attend and demonstrate their respect and concern at time like this.

It is an insult and a sad commentary on the entire government that not one elected official had the sense of honor to participate in this march.

These kinds of insults always come back to haunt the responsible parties.

I think they expected, just as you and I did, that a senior official, such as the vice president, secretary of state or at least a cabinet official of some kind, would be there. We have never seen this kind of behavior before in our long history and I think it still takes some people by surprise.

I have to tell you, I am truly disappointed in our Constitution. It does NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING to protect us from a dictator.

More proof he not only doesn’t represent me, he doesn’t represent the USA. He is just a community organizer, and a lower level one, not nearly as effective as Sharpton and Jackson. This man is just a “fail.” I guess it doesn’t take a very high IQ to vote for a fake, and later still think it is real.

I wouldn't hold this against any of them: including Obama, Holder, Boehner, etc. There's something about participating in a "march for unity" in a foreign country that seems beneath a U.S. leader.

Offer your condolences. Maybe even make an unscheduled visit to France to do this directly to their leaders. But there's something silly and juvenile about marching in the streets in a foreign land over this.

I think you are right.

Obama's arrogance and disdain for our national honor and traditions know no bounds.

What a ham fisted bunch of bunglers we have in the Obama administration - from Obama himself on down.

They are all an embarrassment to the nation and our heritage.
