I'd also suggest... a sales tax surtax on sneakers that cost more than $99, malt liquor and cigarette papers.
How about a special tax on blunts and grape soda instead.
Since, in the course of their work, cops encounter way more tires than firearms, it would make more sense to tax tires for cop body-cameras.
Any more than tobacco users should be responsible for funding everything imaginable.
“......then I might see adding the ammo tax on top so that everyone got into the gimmick.”..
Don’t give the demodummie bastards any ideas, they’re greedy and wicked enough without outside help.
Why firearms and ammo? It would make more sense to tax something for those who feel the need for the cops to wear the cameras - EBT cards for instance...
Put a special tax on popeye’s fried chicken. More appropriate.
I’d think an additional tax on Malt Beer and Fortified Wine would be a better way to go.
Probably pull in more money.
Highly unlikely that any legislation introduced by a state representative or senator with a D after his name will even make it out of committee, let alone get passed. Both houses of the Missouri General Assembly enjoy veto-proof republican majorities. This allows the democrats to propose any crazy laws they think will excite their base safe in the knowledge that they will never see the light of day.
Time for Tar and Feathers.
Since it’s been proven repeatedly, that more guns in the hands of citizens REDUCES crime rates, I propose we place a special tax on NOT owning guns.
Do the taxes also apply to illegal gun purchases made on the street?
Years ago I read a good write-up on the opportunity-cost of guns, and it dealt with the gun-grabbers wanting to drive up the price of guns. The article said that most honest gun owners have no plans to use their guns in anger (i.e., defend themselves), as they (mostly) don’t know of any immediate threats to themselves - in other words, they know bad guys are out there, but the vast majority of us cannot say when we’ll be attacked or who will be attacking us. So we could spend thousands on guns which we never use in anger (which we all hope will be the case, of course). As the price goes up, it becomes harder to justify spending on such a vague threat.
But a bank robber knows EXACTLY when and where he’ll be using his gun - so if the price goes up, he still sees a direct value in that gun. In other words he’s less likely to be affected by price and thus driving up the cost of gun ownership for him has little to no effect.
How about cutting frivolous spending so they’ll have funds for police.
.... and hoodies
Of course. As we all know, the utter failure and misery of black culture is the fault of white policemen.
Everything is "already taxed". My point was, that tobacco is already taxed too, that doesn't stop fed., state and local from taxing it again and again and again.
