NYC police unions can't strike and don't strike. It's illegal. They are however free to associate with each other. You think that's exstortion?
NYC police unions can't strike. But you think they are powerful?
“It’s open season on cops. You go do the job.”
I don’t need to do to take a union job to question policy placed on union employees.
I would not defend the Castro/Sandinista mayor of NYC, but city employees still need to do their job, no matter who is mayor.
I wasn’t referring to a union strike and never implied or suggested that. My collapse comment, had nothing to do with that.
On this question, you can bet the rent they're powerful, more ways than you'll ever know about$.
Same with all the big gov unions, they got the power and the money to manipulate and control. This is no secret.
In fact, there are now more unionized government employees in the U.S., than what now exists in private sector America.
The rank and file need to stick to their guns.
They have no power to strike.
Understood.
IMNSHO, relocating the UN HQ to Zimbabwe, Iran or China would resolve a multitude of issues there.
As for the cops not issuing enough revenue producing tickets and arrests for non-violent code violations...that was never their primary job, right?
What would that have to do with their duty of serving and protecting law abiding citizens?
Perhaps we can thank the NYPD for putting to bed the myth that our governments laws, at all levels, are revenue neutral. And that we, the people, control our government.
You're right. New York State public employees are controlled by the Taylor Law. They are not allowed to strike and can be fined and/or locked up for it.
“The beatings will continue until morale improves!”
They need to hire this guy. If he thinks a video camera is dangerous he’ll be a big help to New Yorkers.
Maybe this needs it’s own thread.

You and me against the world.
If the police would stop acting like the punk in the link I posted, or stood up to their comrades who act like him, they’d have a lot more community support.

The two sentences in your post to Olivia contradict each other.
Your first sentence implies that few support your criticisms of the police.
Your second sentence implies that your criticism of the police has a lot of community support.
Somebody probably already said it, but...
“No liberty until morale improves”. And forget about mail call, too!
Yeah, that always works. (Not)
Lots of popcorn! We're not even through the first inning. This still has a long way to go.
IF IF IF the cops would stop treating citizens like trash. That’s a big IF.
As for my post to Olivia, I’m just pointing out that I support her opinion and she should be prepared for the “cops can do no wrong” crowd’s response. Hers was the first anti cop post.
Most cops don't treat citizens like trash.
Saying that "cops treat citizens like trash" is just as objectionable as saying "cops can do no wrong".
Then why aren’t more cop lovers posting videos of nice cops? In fact, why aren’t cops posting videos of them being nice?
And like I said, as long as the “nice” cops sit on their asses and say nothing about the “bad” cops then their bad cops, too. One day you may run across one. I hope you don’t.
