What Parents of Down Syndrome Kids Get About Sarah Palin That Others Don’t
Time Magazine ^ | January 8, 2015 | Steve Friess

Posted on 01/08/2015 7:02:04 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

For parents of a child with Down syndrome, their children figuring out a solution to any problem is a tremendous triumph.

My sister stood around the corner and deliberately out of sight, curious to see what her then-14-month-old son, Chaim, was up to. He sat on the kitchen floor, legs spread around the dog’s dish. With a devilish smile, Chaim looked around a couple of times before plunging his bare hands into the bowl and extending it as an offering to his closest friend, Sammy, the family’s poodle mix.

My sister, Sheryl, couldn’t have been more delighted. No, she wasn’t fond of Chaim boy-handling the Alpo. But the idea that Chaim knew he was doing something wrong and took precautions to avoid being caught showed logic and reasoning skills that she hadn’t before seen or anticipated. After all, before a baby with Down syndrome is born, doctors warn the expectant parents that a dire, sad, dependent life may lie ahead....

Even Palin, confronted by Savannah Guthrie on Today this week, understood that standing on small animals is generally not a good habit.

Even Palin?

Even that stupid, stupid, stupid woman?? She was capable of understanding something?

Time Magazine never ceases to amaze.

An interesting perspective that I had not considered.

Ofcourse, I did not go cuckoo about her child standing on top of the dog to reach the faucet. Having had a very caring, loving black lab when I was a kid, I know that if that dog felt discomfort that it did not want, that child would have been flat on the floor.

He's speaking to the average Time Magazine reader, not you and me.

Some friends adopted a little girl who has what I guess you would call severe Downs Syndrome. Even though she can’t speak, she’s the sweetest kid, yet, she learned very early after arriving that she can get away with stuff. There’s a devilish little streak going on inside her head.

The kid reaching for the faucet was in the picture posted by Ellen Degerate, PETA’s Woman of the Year. That photo generated nowhere near the outrage, nor the media attention, that Sarah’s picture did. Strange coincidence, no?

When I was an Assistant Teacher in a special education class, I potty-trained a Down's Syndrome child. I told him that if he pooped or peed in the toilet, I'd do the "Happy Poo-poo Dance".

One day, he grabbed my shirt sleeve and pulled me to the bathroom. He went to the bathroom, and, keeping my promise, I did the "Happy Poo-Poo Dance", much to the delight of the teacher, other assistant, and other kids.

Palin smacked PETA down so hard that someone hit F5 at DNC’s headquarters and ordered someone in the media to produce an article that both provided cover for PETA and explained the challenges of Down Syndrome children to low information voters.

TIME is intentional blocking people from web content if we cannot see their advertising.

So? Who cares.

Let them censor themselves. TIME used to be inspiring. But now TIME just panders to LIV’s, Bama sycophants, and liberals.

The last time I picked up a copy of that magazine, I was in a dr’s office. It was mostly ads.

I was amazed to see how thin Time magazine has gotten lately. It looks like it’s suffering from consumption. Any thinner it will simply wink out of existence.

Last “Time” I did was in the 70’s. The author of the article used to write for Politico (tech writer).

Thank You for the Ping kiryandil!

Ping to Sarah's Inspirational List!

While TIME Magazine isn't even good Bird Cage Liner, G-d has Blessed Trig with Innocence and a Loving Family.

If we could all see and act on that, the world would be a brighter place.

“Her mothering of Trig is, by far, the most admired, most humanizing part of her biography to many, the one thing even her fiercest critics respect.”

More BS by the author Steve. Sarah’s fiercest critics don’t respect her for anything. Many writing why she allowed Trig to be born.

It's laughable that urban dwellers think they know more about human/animal interaction than people who have lived in the wilderness.

I'd like to see the author of this article try to field dress a moose.
