It can and has for many years now. In theory the feds can mount cameras on every street to monitor every single face and license plate

Along with facial recognition, will it also use expression analysis to see if the students are buying the crap being spewed? It would make it so much easier to tag those who might be extreme right-wing Bible-clinging gun nuts who seek to disobey those that rule....

Similar experience for me in the ‘70s. And though the pros and cons of attendance could be debated all day, I believe the general stance should be that it is the student's decision and the student's consequences.
That is part of learning adult behavior.
