After Charlie Hebdo attack, U.S. Catholic group says cartoonists ‘provoked’ slaughter
The Washington Post ^ | 1/7/2015 | Ishaan Tharoor

Posted on 01/08/2015 7:43:14 AM PST by Kevin C

In the aftermath of the deadly assault on the offices of Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical newspaper, much of the world has rallied in solidarity with the publication, its irreverent cartoonists and their right to free speech. But not everyone is so supportive. Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, a U.S. organization that "defends the rights of Catholics," issued a statement titled "Muslims are right to be angry." In it, Donohue criticized the publication's history of offending the world's religiously devout, including non-Muslims. The murdered Charlie Hebdo editor Stephane Charbonnier "didn’t understand the role he played in his [own] tragic death," the statement reads. "Had [Charbonnier] not been so narcissistic, he may still be alive," Donohue says, in what must be one of the more offensive and insensitive comments made on this tragic day. "Killing in response to insult, no matter how gross, must be unequivocally condemned. That is why what happened in Paris cannot be tolerated," says Donohue. "But neither should we tolerate the kind of intolerance that provoked this violent reaction." The statement says Charlie Hebdo has "a long and disgusting record of going way beyond the mere lampooning" of religious figures. "They have shown nuns masturbating and popes wearing condoms," Donohue says. "They have also shown Muhammad in pornographic poses." Among the covers is a too-racy-for-WorldViews depiction of the Christian Holy Trinity locked in a three-way homosexual orgy (as part of a critique of French religious leaders' opposition to gay marriage) and a whole array of images mocking pedophilia by priests. Charlie Hebdo doesn't pull its punches. But some critics say it goes too far, specifically with Muslims.

I note that this is not the actual Catholic church saying this.

Donahue is a confirmed whackjob leftist.

....”God meant it when He said “come out of her my people lest ye be partakers of her plagues”.....

Unfortuantely they see it as coming away from the things of the world and become a member of catholicism....and eventually the Unity of all the faiths fast approaching now.

Don’t know if I’ve ever heard the sound of the horsehoofs so vividly!

It seems that for some that day has already happened. The indoctrination for some runs deep.

How do you respond to their filthy, vulgar, obscene blasphemy?

Ignore it, it's not my problem.

....”The Catholic Church and it’s followers are complicit in the evil the Islam is.”....

I think most Chritians understood for a long time it would be so...they have much in common...just enough of Christian lingo to say they have something in common....and it’s a trap.

Too many think a false religion or cult is easily identified...but in todays world this is not so as people have abandoned much to do with our historical roots as a nation. Both Politically and from our roots as a Christian Nation.

Added to the deceptions of our day is even the evangicla commuity churches are being infilitrated and a “new” appraoch of worship and truth is being presented and accepeted.

It’s a very sad and forboding cloud coming over our land and the world.. and one which I no longer think is stoppable.

Yes unfortuantely, and worse then trying to pull a stubborn tooth.

However I do believe their pit is not so deep HE’s not deeper still....and for that it will take the work of God to free them within...and their will to want to be free to serve God as HE wants them to rather then what catholism teaches them they must.

The problem is they don’t want to.

I don't believe it is stoppable. It's time for those who truly believe to choose sides and the only safe side is trust in Jesus alone through faith alone. It's obvious that God has begun the final fulfilment of prophesy. The world has turned their backs on Him. Once Israel was once again a nation God's promises to that nation were instituted. He is gathering them in preparation for the end.

You have remarkably defocused from the specifics of the statement that you presumably meant to hold against him...

why?

How about the half truths and corrupted beliefs that live within evangelical churches?

Ohhh, that’s a different story, somehow Jesus is going to manage to come back to them? Spurning the others who benefited His promise for centuries?

It is so easy to blame an organization, so hard to look at yourself and say “have I put my hand in the Lord’s hand?”

Well....annalex!!

Bad form!!

You think free speech is wrong!!

What do you want? Total control over what is said?

And who controls that?

What if someone comes along and say's what you just said is forbidden and death be upon you?

Believing a lie one wants to believe is much easier than the truth God would have them believe.

Like the lie that the Lord if actually trusted to take them to heaven, will have the gall to do so in the face of the naysayers... yup like that lie.

I hardly see 1 out of 10 “Christians” actually believing the salvational promises of the Lord. They are a rare joy to be with and they astonishingly transcend a lot of denominational dreck. The Babylon Whore problem is spread all OVER. We cannot point a finger without having three pointing back at us.

....”He is gathering them in preparation for the end”....

I believe so... all these Islamic bombings an attacks in Europe are sending many Jewish people to Israel out of fear....which might be God’s allowing in order to accomplish all those there he wants there.

Meanwhile the Muslim population continues to expand in their host nations...sufficient to prevent deporting Muslims back to their homelands...so they certainly are and will continue to increase...and this with many host nations assiting them to immigrant there or claim refugee status.

It’s so obvious the “setting Up” not just of the nations but the peoples migrations and immigration....pretty astounding too. And just as the Globalists directed and hoped for.....carnage isn’t their concern. Just getting it all staged for themselves.

God will show them who is in charge at his time and choosing!

I’m having a difficult time understanding what you are trying to get at. Are you saying that all religions somehow lead to salvation? Only some but most? Help me out here.

To: Mrs. Don-o
Dear Mrs. Don-o,

“They are not rightly inspired to murder, but they are rightly angered.”

No.

They are not rightly angered. Just as the criminal has no right to anger for his prison sentence, the moslems have no right to anger when their satanic religion is ridiculed. By their works they are known.

When they forswear murder, rape, pillage, plunder, and slavery as just punishments to be meted out by them against those they perceive as infidels, then they will have a claim for respect for their religion. Until such time, by according justice to the murderers and rapists in their anger, you are imposing an unjust burden on the victims of islam - the obligation not to protest islam through ridicule and mockery.

The oppressed (and all the earth is oppressed by these demonic savages) have a right to their voice, and they have a right to insult the oppressor. The oppressor acts unjustly if he takes umbrage to the cries of the oppressed as they cry out to Heaven for vengeance.

Imagine a slaveowner being angry at a slave in the antebellum south for mocking his master who has the audacity of thinking he can own another human being. The anger of the owner is unjust. Even if the slave said terrible things, obscene things about the owner, considering the oppression forced on the slave by the owner, the owner should be grateful that is ALL he receives at the hand of the slave. You would defend the anger of the slave owner?

In the current world, the last systematic slavers ARE THE MOHAMMEDANS! They are vicious, evil oppressors! The oppressed mock them because often, the oppressed have no more power than to mock them. And you would defend the mohammadan oppressor against the oppressed?

Whatever else they may do, whomever else they may insult or mock, folks like Charlie Hebdo are calling out the polluted moslems. That is justice. For the polluted ones to take offense is not just.

Donahue is an ass.

"most Muslims are not rapists, murderers, etc. nor supporters of such crimes."

Actually, polls show that the vast majority of moslems throughout the world favor sharia law that dictates murder, rape, pillage and plunder against the non-believers. They are accomplices before, during, and after the fact. That an unbeliever may be justly killed for failure to convert is uncontroversial in most of the islamic world. That the women of those who fight against islam may be taken as war booty and turned into concubines by mohammedan men is uncontroversial (this is rape). That they make take the belongings of those whom they defeat is uncontroversial. That gays should be stoned, apostates murdered, Jews and Christians oppressed and robbed when not killed outright, these are all mainstream, uncontroversial concepts in the islamic world.

Do you remember Sept 11? I do. I remember seeing all the moslems rioting with joy throughout the mohataman world. I remember the savage beasts ululating in arab-occupied Judea and Samaria. Except if a moslem formally denounce these things (and really, formally renounce the satanism of islam), he is guilty of all the crimes approved by his personal beliefs.

"You could call them hypocrites: they are better than their creeds would dictate."

They're not hypocrites. They just haven't had their chance to commit these atrocities yet. Just give them the opportunity, and see what happens.

Over the past decade or so, we tried an experiment. We took a couple of heavily-moslem countries, and tried to give them operational governments, actual freedom, institutions of freedom, elections, trained militaries, everything. At the first chance they got, these countries rejected universal human rights and re-embraced sharia, like a dog going back to its vomit. Afghanistan was largely free of the Taliban, and now the Taliban are regaining their hold on power. Why?

Because that's ultimately what the Afghan people want. They don't want freedom or peace or justice or free speech or free expression or a right to fair trial, or respect for religious pluralism or religious freedom or freedom from cruel and unjust punishment. They fashioned and voted for a constitution that enshrines SHARIA, not the Bill of Rights. As have countless other islamic countries.

Much the same thing happened in Iraq, where, before Saddam was overthrown, had many of the trappings of a relatively-modern, relatively-western society. We freed them from a dictator who was murdering, it's estimated, an extra 60,000 people per year (out of a population of 25 million). What did they vote for? Sectarianism, sharia, one harsh version of islam over another.

If your point is that there are a small minority of devout moslems who don't want to kill us all, well, that's sort of a trivial point to make. There were, I'm sure, some Nazis (the spiritual kin of the islamics) who weren't entirely on board with killing all those Jews, either. Like I said, it's a bitch for that "mainstream, moderate" 5% who don't want to kill us all.

Speak for yourself..of course. I do not share that.

You can certainly use numbers...”One out of ten” as claimed....but they are meaningless to me. After all Islam claims ‘Millions’ so numbers are just that..numbers...and those who suppose thinking belonging within the masses of catholcism is safety need to think again.

It is written and true... “Enter through the ‘narrow’ gate. For ‘wide’ is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and ‘many enter through it’.... But ‘small’ is the gate and ‘narrow’ the road that leads to life, and only ‘a few’ find it.”...Mat 7:13-14

I’ll take small, narrow and few any day!
