MNsure gets another $34 million in federal money

MNsure says it will use the money to upgrade its website and address other ongoing issues.

MNsure will receive an additional $34 million in federal funds to continue work on the state’s health insurance enrollment system.

With the new money, total federal grant funding in support of Minnesota’s health insurance exchange is now about $189.3 million, according to an announcement Wednesday by MNsure.

The money will fund improvements to the MNsure website, said Scott Leitz, the MNsure chief executive, during a board meeting Wednesday in St. Paul. It also will let MNsure address ongoing issues, Leitz said, such as invoices for people in the MinnesotaCare program plus a portal for health insurance agents to enroll people in coverage.

Minnesota launched the MNsure exchange to implement the federal Affordable Care Act, which requires almost all Americans to have health insurance or pay a tax penalty.

The joke is less funny now that we know that “republican” and “democrat” is interchangeable. It’s hell to get old...although the older I get, the better I was.

MNsure will receive an additional $34 million in federal funds involuntarily taken taxpayer dollars to continue work on the state’s health insurance enrollment system. Sometimes it's best to shed a little light on the subject.

I sometimes wonder if this is the only reason Minnesota “does well”, is it that is the biggest pig at the federal trough.
