If you took the over on 19 votes, you won! There were 25 defectors on the Speaker, a number tantalizingly close to the 29 they needed. But then, that makes sense:

Neither did 33 other members. Only 401 voted. Given that all Boehner needed were 202 Republican votes and he got 216.
This vote was about as real as a Philadelphia presidential election.
I was calling for that in the last election, guess it didn't work.
It was a valiant attempt. Now there is a crack in the dam.
The next blow will be Boner trying to put the votes together to fund DHS.
Of course, he could ask the Dems for support, and likely get it.

Eventually the mere mention of his name will be POISON and the primaries of 2016 will have his name and image everywhere.

That’s the nonsense order of operations. It’s through converting the GOP that we’ll win. You’d throw away the victories we’ve won? That’s just helping the state and liberals. We must thing strategically and long term. We’re winning.
Half of all Americans now live in states 100% under GOP control. It’s through the Constitutional reassertion of state power that we’ll make great progress. We simply need a federal GOP that stays out of the way and let’s that change happen. We simply need a GOP POTUS no worse than GW Bush to appoint judges for us.
All those states act as our bench. Those successful GOP states and their politicians form the victories of the next election and the next. Keep in mind that the country is greatly divided and the same people who elected Obama twice would have kept doing it, except for the wise ruling of Roberts that Democratcare is a tax. It’s killing liberalism and so is urban socialist control.
Don’t throw away the future. Too many FReepers approach politics as if it was running a household of their own. It’s like being mad because the baby wasn’t born in a month. We need patience and to learn to see that we’re winning.
