I understand it was given a pass. But, being a natural born citizen and not a naturalized citizen certainly is/was the issue.

Hawaii became a state on August 21, 1959. The birth certificate that Obama's handlers provided to the press for public consumption says that Obama was born on August 4, 1961.
It’s my understanding that if 1 parent is a citizen (as Ted’s was at the time of birth), then he is a US Citizen. He held a dual Canadian (place of birth) and US citizenship until a few months ago when he gave up his Canadian citizenship.

Thanks for clarifying the date and when Hawaii entered as a state. I’ve wondered about that but never thought to look it up.
As to 0bama, I don’t know if he was born in Hawaii or not and there’s evidence both ways. I do not believe he is or should have been eligible to be president. One, I have read the arguments after the fact but if one reads earlier explanations and associations concerning what’s a citizen, it is less clear. For example, children always fell under the citizenship of the father, not the mother.
I don’t think Obama is eligible either. Not that Congress could sink any lower in my view, but it is amazing that the subject of dual citizenship at birth was never discussed, but McCain’s being born outside of the US was.
It’s interesting in that this whole topic and definitions changed once the discussion of 0bama’s eligibility became an issue.
Read historic explanations too and it’s obvious the US has changed definitions to meet what we want citizenship to be, not what it was meant to be. Then some idiot journalist writes about it with condensation towards anyone who questions the current beliefs versus accepted beliefs that were used for over a hundred years.
Typical BS about PC. Just change meanings to suit the left’s needs.

Being born in Hawaii (if he was) would satisfy 14th amendment citizenship IF the parents wanted or intended for him to be a US Citizen, such as a diplomat is stationed in USA and his kid happens to be born in USA he does not become a citizen automatically.
Also the mother, was supposedly under age, and this also affects the natural born citizen analysis
It is complicated. I have read the whole schpiel.
Bottom line is even if Bambi was born in Hawaii, he may well be a USA citizen but NOT a “Natural Born Citizen”.

There was a recent incident where Boehner promised a back bencher that if he voted to proceed that Dems would withdraw the Bill (can’t remember the issue) but the guy was so upset about the betrayal that they rolled right into the Cromnibus that he went public.
So word on street is Boehner if a LIAR! Not good for a “leader” (although it works for the vile One)
