(Reuters) - Americans moving out of state in 2014 were most likely to head to places that were warmer and more affordable, such as the South and Southwest, according to studies by two major moving companies.

The 47th annual report by Allied Van Lines showed that Illinois topped the list of states people are moving away from with 1,372 net moves, followed by Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan and New Jersey. The states have remained in the top five since 2010, the company said.

Keeping cool requires electricity.
Keeping warm just requires burnin’ sumthin.

Continuation of long term trends, of people moving away from high tax liberal states. States which also have severe winter weather to endure.

A middle class person should have no problems with cold in modern America, central heating, modern cars with heated seats, modern snow free roads, modern clothing and heated buildings, modern recreation and work, almost entirely indoor based.

“Funny, what happened to global warming?”

Haven’t you heard from the eco-nuts that the cooling is caused by warming?

Warm globally, cool locally!

That doesn’t surprise me.

If I had the means I’d move south without needing to think about the move itself; only question would be where to go.

All I’d miss here would be my friends and the food.

We moved from the DFW area of Texas to Florida. Our utilities bill is about 1/3 to 1/4 what it was in Texas, real estate taxes 1/4. And housing prices are half.

I’m fine with that as long as the snow birds don’t bring their penchant for big government.

You would think with Global Warming and all the people in the northern and Great Lakes areas would stay put as the climate would be getting warmer there it will be a tropical paradise soon.

Energy prices are extreme here in Tx.

I lived in the middle of the desert in AZ and electric was 1/8 the cost..

On the other hand AZ taxed you blind on other stuff.
