If you want a truly anonymous life, then maybe it's time you learned about Tor, CSpace and ZRTP.
These three technologies could help people hide their activities from the National Security Agency, according to NSA documents newly obtained from the archive of former contractor Edward Snowden by the German magazine Der Spiegel.
The combination of Tor, CSpace and ZRTP (plus another anonymizing technology for good measure) results in levels of protection that the NSA deems "catastrophic" -- meaning the organization has "near-total loss/lack of insight to target communications," according to Der Spiegel.
"Although the documents are around two years old, experts consider it unlikely the agency's digital spies have made much progress in cracking these technologies," Spiegel's staff wrote.

Did they give a link to hidefromnsa.com?
This is like that old story about the bodies in the river, and the city finding ways to organize rescue etc. But nobody asked what was going on upriver.
Instead of finding ways to protect ourselves from government surveillance, we should be focused on how to root out the people doing the surveillance. If the government views us an enemy, how should we then view them?
Why would anyone want to hide from out gubment if they weren’t doing anything wrong?

Maybe the NSA just needs to develop the best, most secure anonymizers and invite people to use them... or maybe they already have < /conspiracy mode>
Tor has a browser. Never knew that. Do any freepers use it?
tor is very very old news
Oh, sure, that’s what they WANT you to believe ...
Seriously, the way to evade the NSA is to not use electronic communications. If you think about this at all, you will realize that you don’t have to use such means of communication if you don’t want to.
The voyeurs can’t leer at you unless you leave your blinds open.
Freedom requires the ability to maintain a certain zone of privacy about one’s dealings. Not because you are doing anything wrong, but because some things are simply nobody’s business but your own.
To push this a bit further, freedom requires some level of financial privacy. In some cases, in many countries, your family’s physical safety depends upon it.

I’ve always thought that tor was created by NSA specifically to monitor the people who were trying not to be monitored. A honey-pot, of sorts.
Channeling Brer Rabbit.
I have a flap of paper taped to the monitor that covers my search bar, and when I want to do a search, I lift the cover, quickly type in my search and then let it down, to hide the search bar again.
So far the NSA has never contacted me, so it must be working.
That is not to say the agency has not over reached in some cases and should be more carefully monitored in their activities when US persons are involved.
Happy New Year, y'all.

NSA surveillance is looking just as stupid as gun control: It only works against the law-abiding.
Tor is free and once started is no more cumbersome than a regular browser.
easiest way for them to get a condensed list of ‘enemies of the state”
saves ‘em a lot of time
