And those of us on the other side of the Second Amendment divide might just thank you for it. Eugene Volokh makes the case:
A commenter on a recent thread asked seemingly from a pro-gun-control perspective Why cant guns be treated like cars, regulated and available, only to those who demonstrate competence and compliance with laws? That is a perfect excuse for me to reprise my analysis of the guns-cars analogy. Cars are basically regulated as follows (I rely below on California law, but to my knowledge the rules are similar throughout the country):

So illegals will be able to operate guns without a license and won’t be subject to impounding when caught?
If the Second Amendment covered cars, rather than guns, I would be good with regulating guns, but not cars.
...but it doesn’t. So CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION FIRST.
Shall NOT be infringed. SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!!!! How damned hard is this to understand? NOT, shall not be infringed, as long as you have a license/background check/permit/insurance...SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. Molon Labe, rotten filthy stinking leftists!
because a drivers license is a privilege .not a right ....
and a gun is a right ...not a privilege
This is America. Read our constitution and learn our history and political science. Guns cannot lawfully be regulated. Period.

Simple answer. Only the dems and rinos and their peoples will be able to own guns.
That means conservatives will be murdered by the evil left and rino right traitors of America.
because then gun ownership is not a right, but a priviledge - just like a driver’s license is.
Didn’t see your post before I made mine.
Regulation and licensing in relation to firearms are notoriously used by anti-gun politicians to limit the rights of firearm owners. If they were not, we might talk about it.
This is why it is a mistake to embrace the idea.
Does this cover my hood mounted M-60?
Really hard, it seems. Even judges can't seem to decipher it.
anything with the term “license” in its name implies it’s a privilege granted by the state....
right are not licensed to you...
That why libertarians were so wrong on pro gay marriage .saying the state had to issue marriage “license” to gays
the true libertarian position would be the say the state has no business issuing “license”, granting privilege, being involved in marriage in the the first place ...
the only libertarian point of a marriage license from a state perspective is to record legal status of the birth that result from it..
No
1st I didn’t know you needed a DL to buy a car.
I thought all it took was money.
To get the license tag in our state you need insurance - which means a DL.
But you could buy it cash and load it on a trailer - the dealer could care less.
oh I thought you were asking me if I didn’t see your post before I made mine..lol
1) no federal licensing or registration,
2) no license of any kind needed for use on private property,
3) any adult may obtain license from age 16 by passing a simple test,
4) state licenses are recognized in all 50 states, etc.
Oppose ALL regulation of firearms. The left is satisfied with incremental eroding of our rights. I don’t care if it just involves the color of the wood for the stock or how many rounds the magazine holds. It is erosion of our 2nd Amendment rights. The constitutions does not limit what arms you may have. The Constitution was worded such that we should have the same arms as any army on the globe. I see no exclusions in the 2nd Amendment, not even for automatic firearms, rocket launchers, tanks, ships or aircraft.
Because what human is born with an annate, self-motivated desire to operate vehicle opf any sort
whereas, all humans are born with an innate, self-motivated desire to protect himself, family and property from enemies foreign and domestic.
