It is the largest of its kind known to man (filovirus outbreak), and has exposed critical weaknesses in the medical establishment, in our will to close off travel from affected regions, and in our ability to handle it as a disease. One patient infected two health care workers here in the US, the patient died, the workers recovered due to novel treatments and excellent supportive care. One more patient who had been treated in Nebraska died of the disease.
Now you claim the media can build a story from nothing (and, indeed, they can), but they are lazy asses for the most part, parroting the AP feed. When AP stopped reporting on Ebola, so did the rest of the media.
What you don't seem to get is that they can bury a story by simply not reporting on it as well.

Let's get something straight. It isn't MY liberal media, I don't own so much as a single share of stock in any of it.
They Never said there was an Ebola Epidemic Here in the US, but guess what? We had an undefinable increase in cases here and went from zero ever to eight in one year. Two died, six survived. Two more than ever had the disease here actually caught it here.
Now, I'll be the first to admit that isn't very many people. It's like having sex once. But if that once is the first time, it is a landmark.
The outbreak in West Africa continues, there are people with the disease in Mosul, and in the UK, and the evac plane (one of them) has been to Georgia in the past few days, why, I can't say--and the government is not saying, either.
If you think this is some sort of bullshit deal from the media, I suggest you go help out at the isolation clinics in West Africa.

For starters, it isn't MY Ebola. I don't own it, don't have any, and would rather not have any. Yes, Virginia, there are other things on the planet which have killed more people. Stupidity ranks up there, along with the inability to recognize genuine threats exist, and deal with those as needed, or avoid them if possible.
The thing is, most threats can be avoided. Ebola is one of those things that has classically died out for lack of ability to travel. Those in an infected village would die, maybe a couple survive, and the folks down the road would go on. Isolation is the key.
For the first time, in the current outbreak (remember, please, that there is an outbreak, just not here), the disease had traveled via airliner to other countries. Ours is one of them. That was unprecedented, and breached the primary defense against Ebola that had heretofore been 100% effective: distance.
At no time have I EVER said the media is not a threat.
Now, if you can, wrap your head around the idea that part of that threat is what the media is NOT saying (coupled with the short-attention-span people have been trained by media to have which lets them forget what isn't being reported).
You asserted ebola was a figment of the media. But there are thousands of dead people who won't assert anything, who died of ebola in Africa in the past 12 months. Some figment.

Bad math, too. There is a 25% chance of dying from Ebola in the US (two of eight patients here died) IF you have contracted the disease.
Not knowing how many people fell without dying makes your 13000 useless for comparative purposes, but even on your numbers basis, the number of people who died from falls is 6500 times that of the people who died of Ebola, not 13000.

I agree. The media were told to stfu about Ebola and they did. As one journalist recently said, “we report what we are allowed to report.”

For months , every day the news media hit us with massive coverage of “the ebola threat” . I talked to people who were in panic mode scared out of their minds because of ebola. I told them that the media was lying and then they looked at me like i was crazy. What's scary to me is the power the media has to make puppets out of all of you.
Me nor a misplaced word in one of my posts are not the issue here, not even the fake threat of ebola. That the media create a matrix to take away our freedom is the issue. Ebola is a very real disease. Up until this outbreak an average of 60% of the people who contracted the disease died (compared to 2.5% of those who got the 1918 flu).
It's deadly if you get it, and NOT BRINGING IT HERE will help Americans not get the disease.
In the meantime, our borders remain open to the nations affected: Over 18000 infected, over 7000 dead, there.
The media shut up because the State Department announced they were not going to limit travel from nations where the disease is wreaking havoc, and the Government was continuing to issue visas and even talking about importing people who had the disease for treatment. Mentioning that would cause people to get ticked off at Obama and his minions.
What you don't know will prevent anyone from making an assessment of risk.
If you haven't figured out that I'm not defending the liberal media, you don't have time to think, either. What they say is only part of the problem, the other part is what they do NOT report on.
Misplaced word or punctuation? Those were not mentioned, but an occasional capital letter to indicate the beginning of a sentence would make your blurts more readable for those of us who also have limited time. I only work a fast-paced 12-14 hour day, and I can hit the shift key from time to time to indicate the start of a sentence. It is a basic courtesy.
