Good evening, ML! A Blessed Lord's Day to you! As you know, the sacrifice of the Holy Innocents resonates deeply with me. Did not know that about St. Jerome. |
Prayers for our troops, veterans, families, allies, friends, and Canteeners
for a safe and peaceful week ahead.
He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.
Thanks very much, Kathy! I did not sing particularly well at Midnight Mass - no major mistakes, but my voice is in sad shape. I was in falsetto much of the time and never really felt comfortable. I probably will not sing at Midnight Mass again - at least, until my physical condition improves substantially. We didn't work on the fence today - I slid in the mud yesterday and put my back out. Should be able to finish the gate tomorrow. |
I'm watching Judge Jeanine - talking about Islamic genocide. Compelling! |
Gosh, that sermon is why I’m still working when I could be retired! I visualize sitting around the house and I know I’d go nuts! Not to mention, my hubby retired early and he would be here all the time...and I visualize a divorce. ROFL! Just kidding!
Great thread, Kathy! (((hugs)))
I LOVE that Lady!
She reminds me of another lady Judge.
Named Deborah.
Ted Robertsons home in Colorado was one of more than 500 destroyed by the Black Forest Fire in June 2013. When he was allowed to return and sift through the ash and rubble, he was hoping to find a precious family heirloom made by his wifea tiny ceramic figurine of baby Jesus about the size of a postage stamp. As he searched the charred remains of their home, he kept wondering, Is the baby Jesus still here?
When our lives are rocked by disappointment and loss, we may wonder if Jesus is still here with us. The Bibles answer is a resounding Yes! Neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come . . . shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom. 8:38-39).
In a corner of what used to be his garage, Ted Robertson discovered the burned remnants of a nativity scene and there he found the baby Jesus figurine undamaged by the flames. He told KRDO NewsChannel 13, [Weve] gone from apprehension to hope . . . that were going to recover some parts of our life that we thought were lost.
Is Jesus still here? He is indeed, and that is the everlasting wonder of Christmas.
Good evening, Janey...((HUGS))...party night? A block party? Out in the street?
Shavua Tov and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
We have a bunch of holy innocents in our own contemporary time.
I really like St. Jerome. Latin was the “Vulgate’, or the language of the common people. By his translating of the Scriptures into Latin, he was giving it directly to US!
Now, Latin is no longer commonly used, except in Medicine, Law, and Religion, but the idea of translating God’s Word into contemporary languages continues to this day.

I have about 8 different translations which I rotate through.
"We have a bunch of holy innocents in our own contemporary time." Indeed! That is why their sacrifice resonates so strongly in me. |
LOL! You are having too much fun with your grandkiddies.
A Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours, Sand...((HUGS))
Are you still in Phoenix? Nate enjoying his wagon? Pulling Maddi and brother?
Amen.
Still in Phoenix, but leave in he morning for home. Nate enjoys his wagon. Pulling Maddie, but brother brother is to little yet.
I'd like to learn Aramaic so I could weigh in with authority on these disputes and changes in language. I don't think I'll be able to do that in the time remaining. |
Good evening, EX...a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
Thank you for the prayers for our troops.
probably not. I just started with Koine Greek.
I thought it would be a breeze since I was able to teach myself Russian.
But That was a Half-Century ago.
I taught myself to read music.
But that was 10 years ago.
It’s not so easy nowadays. I can’t seem to find those brain cells I misplaced.
LOL! Boring is a necessary day at times. I’m ready for one.
Tomorrow I must venture out and start the search for a “lift” chair for my Mom. She’s having trouble getting out of her lounge chair. Then I have to start the search for a scooter or electric wheelchair. Her mobility is really going downhill.
She (Judge Jeanine) was great in the opening - after that - I thought she let alot go by - there is no equivalence between Christianity and Islam, IMO. They raise the Crusades - malapropos - the Crusades were defensive campaigns waged to stop the relentless, bloodthirsty growth of Islam throughout the then-known world. |
