Chick-Fil-A appreciation day as a successful political fourth generation warfare operation
Renew America ^ | 20 Dec 2014 | Tim Dunkin

There is certainly a political application of 4GW that can be made here, casting liberty lovers and traditionalists in the role of the non-state actors (i.e. the outsiders), and the culture-political hegemony of the cultural Marxists as the "state" whose legitimacy can (and in this case, ought) to be questioned.

There have been sporadic moves in this direction, mostly arising demotically and probably not even realizing they were engaging in political 4GW. One of the most successful examples of this was the so-called "Chick-Fil-A appreciation day" which occurred a couple of years ago. If you will recall, Chick-Fil-A's President, Dan Cathy, had made a statement of support for marriage, over and against the travesty known as "gay marriage." Because of this, the usual crowd of gay mafia ruffians rose up in arms, attacking him, attacking his faith, attacking his business, and generally trying to punish him severely for his deviation from cultural Marxist norms. However, the move completely backfired on the cultural Marxists and Chick-Fil-A ended up receiving a tremendous amount of support, both moral and financial, from customers who mobbed every Chick-Fil-A restaurant in the country and provided the chain with stratospheric sales. Chick-Fil-A has continued to receive residual kudos and sales from this as a result of their stand.

What made "Chick-Fil-A appreciation day" such a resounding success? I believe we can see in it some successfully applied principles of political 4GW.

The gay marriage freaks are starting to get frisky in the comments section. I'm sure that FReepers know what to do about that...

Chik-fil-a food is disgusting. They are the only fast food restaurant that I know of that actually uses a two-pronged approach to MSG in their nuggets - add it the breading and inject it into the chicken itself.

Mmmmm....me too.

I'll have a deluxe Chick-Filet-a sandwich:
w/ frilly lettuce leaf, vine-ripened tomato slices
cheese slice.

Add a side of hot, crisp waffle fries, large iced real
lemonade, couple containers of CFA's luscious
"special sauce....." and you got lunch.

No less a sophisticate than Esquire Mag named Chick-fil-a one of the nation's best sandwiches.

ESQUIRE REVIEW You can get a chicken sandwich anywhere, which may explain your low expectations. Boneless breast. Bun. Blah. But down south, there lives an eye-opener.

A come-to-Jesus sandwich. The Chick-fil-A. Seasoned, breaded breast served on a toasted buttered bun with dill- pickle slices. No mayo. No sauce at all. Deceptively simple, yet transcendent. The hook is the breading: spicy, with an intoxicating crunch.

The meat is always juicy, never chewy. The bun is like lingerie -- there, but not, providing delicious support without obscuring the main flavor. The first bite changes everything you think you know about chicken. And about the need for condiments. -- Allison Glock

We’ve shifted from eating at Subway a lot to Chik-Fila. The food is OK, but I can get lemonade and cookies and still help keep them in business.
And I deliberately hit Hobby Lobby from time to time to keep them open.
It is a political statement with the choice to shop at those places.

Unlike any lefty protest the Chick-Fil-A supportfest a few years back was positive and it generated commerce. Good spirited people and capitalism. Two great American traits and values you won’t see at any of the Ferguson, Eric Garner, or any other leftist gathering.

Jumping in......

The soup is a real treat and one of my favorites

Our hearty chicken tortilla soup features shredded boneless breast of chicken, navy, northern and black beans in a white creamy base with a perfect blend of vegetables and spices to heat up your dining experience. Topped off with seasoned corn tortilla strips. Seasonal item only.

Essentially, 4GW argues that as modern states begin to lose legitimacy (for a variety of reasons), non-state actors will begin to reassert themselves politically and militarily. 4GW further raises a set of propositions about the warfare that will be fulfilled that enable the non-state actors to be successful against larger, more powerful, and better equipped enemies.

This is the first time I've heard of this. It sounds doable.

What’s the left’s retort to this...Firefox appreciation day? A day to support diversity by depriving citizens of their livelihood for exercising free speech.

Late October, we found ourselves staying at the Westin hotel adjacent to the Houston Galleria....this hotel doesn't have a restaurant, so we did a bit of "food court"......and there I had my very first Chick Fil A sammie -- very good!

There had been plans to build a store here in our Kalifornia desert, but the Clinton/Dodd/Frank meltdown occured and killed off the project.

Previous to that Chick-Fil-A appreciation day if I got anything from a chicken fast food joint I went to the cheapest one. After that I only go to Chick-Fil-A.

I for one had never patronized one of their restaurants before and, to be honest, since I cook and the breaded chicken strip sandwiches I make at home are IMHO better than theirs I would have no real reason to. But I have within the past two years eaten in a Chick-Fil-A about a dozen times solely to support their business and, in effect, give the middle finger salute to the Pazis (Pink Nazis).

I don’t eat much fast food anymore, but if there is a CFA around, I’ll go there instead of McDonald’s or any of the others.

Odd about the MSG. I have sensitivity to MSG, but have never detected it in anything from CFA. Maybe it’s because I get grilled instead of fried?
