For His Own Sake, Mark Levin Should Leave the GOP

Peter Wehner

Anyone who listens to the radio talk-show host Mark Levin knows he’s become a harsh, nightly critic of the Republican Party. To understand just how harsh, you should listen to his monologue from the other day...

We are never going to get it back because we never really owned it.

No, he doesn’t need to find a Party that supports his views...there is no such thing. He needs to focus on THE BEST conservative individual and push individuals. I don’t vote Party, I vote for the most conservative candidate, and none of them are perfect.

There once was a time when that may have included a Democrat here and there but that hasn't been true in at least 16 years. We are in the state we are in largely because of the Democrat party not just Obama.

Good luck finding any Conservative running as a Democrat or Libertarian. I don't believe they exist.

I believe you are wrong. Mark is no actor. He’s the real deal.

I find Levin irritating in some ways, but in my opinion he is doing a real service in calling out the traitors among us. The Republican “leadership” is actively at war with conservatives. Boehner, McConnell, Ryan, McCarthy, Cornyn, Alexander, McCain, Graham, Flake, Hal Rogers, etc., etc., must be beaten.

In deference to truth in advertising, Wehner was a member of Mit Romney’s inner circle in the 2012 campaign.

"I listened to Mark the other night and I’d have to say that I don’t know what took him so long."

I listen to him nightly, either live or via the podcast. I think Mr. Levin, like many of us, recognizes the Catch-22 nature of leaving the - choke - Republican party at a time when it's critical to defeat the left and salvage what's left of our Constitution.

I'm confident that he would embrace a 3rd party that featured leaders like Palin, Cruz, Lee, Jeff Sessions, Michele Bachmann, et al. I would, and I'd become a contributor. But the reality in my head says that it would be several election cycles before such a party would either gain traction or disappear into irrelevance.

The reality I see is that it would amount to a dilution of the only party that we have any chance of beating the left, combined with an undefined number of independents.

Recent trends show the country tacking more & more conservative, but the support for Jug Ears remains around the 40% mark. That leaves 60% up for grabs among the other parties. I'm not seeing either the Republican or a conservative alternative beat the left's constant 40%.

I'm just as tired as anyone of holding my nose in the voting booth, and don't know how many more times I can do it, although the next media/GOPe-foisted presidential candidate just may force my hand in 2016.

The GOP party, currently being run by RINOs, has left him and the rest of us. It’s up to us to get it back. That’s what he’s trying to do. Bring it back to conservative. If you lose the conservatives in the party, you might as well become part of the left. We need Cruz and those like him to right the ship.

Did you hear Rush the other day when he was talking about one of his friends who he keeps nameless?

The subject matter was with said friend that the status quo denotes that a 3rd party is a non starter, said friend noted given the current environment they are not so sure that holds any more or something to that effect. It was not off hand, the verb-age was much better than I am discribing, and IMHO is was a warning volley to the E-GOP.

I don't know who this mystery person is. I'd love to know who El-Rushbo is talking too off the record. But you have to ask yourself why. Why are they trying ( Dems and Repubies ) trying to destroy the last vestiges of Reagan's Vision? Yes the answer is obvious, it is about power, K-Street's spice of which they are addicted and their refusal to downsize or rightsize Government and return Liberty to us.

I bet you dollars to donuts that if Rush mentioned this, the Beltway knows they are on thin ice. They know we are pissed, and they know the rise in Independents are Conservatives that have finally said enough and changed their status as a polite "Up-Yours" to the GOP. They know they can't keep their 3 Card Monte game going for much longer. "Our" ranks in the Senate will swell. The likes of Ernst and more like her coming in 16' and beyond are real, as dinosaurs their finally die off from old age, time is not in their favor.

We can wait them out, elect more or someone like Ted Cruz or Sarah Palin could run as a 3rd Party.

IMHO the GOP sucks such pond water they would have more energy and volunteers than they would know what to do with and I think Rush's little line about a 3rd party running was mentioned for effect. Rush is a master wordsmith. That one sentence was not glib or without thought.

Grab some popcorn it ought to be interesting. Closer to home, I am wondering if challenges to Boenher and McConnell are not out of the question in January....

Which explains why jeb is motivated to run without the support of the base.

If the GOP nominates another unelectable squish in 2016, Cruz needs to run as an independent. Even as he would be splitting the republican vote, he would bring out conservatives, who would otherwise stay home. That would help to stem the losses down-ticket for the senate and local elections. We’d also be able to quantify the strength of the conservative component of America.

What this Wehner clown fails to address is that Levin has provided details of how the GOPe has behaved to back up his accusations and conclusions. Anyone paying attention knows the Grand Canyon gap between Republicans’ pre-election tough talk and post-election inaction and even behind-closed-doors collusion with Obama.

I think I got it by mistake. Do you want it back?

Back to Mark Levin, I have known him for years and am concerned for his health. He is packing far too much anger, or he has become a very good actor.

Without the conservatives the GOP is no kind of opposition party at all; it is merely part of the Democrat party, but with better manners.
