Ben Carson, on his first visit here, tells ‘Post’ he is not sure that a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria ‘makes sense,’ and that Israeli settlement construction is ‘blown out of proportion.’
Retired neurosurgeon and aspiring US politician Ben Carson could walk down the streets of Jerusalem, shout at the top of his lungs “I am Ben Carson,” and almost no one would know who he is.
At least not yet.
But that could change very quickly as the 2016 US presidential campaign picks up speed, and Carson gains traction.
And if recent polls are any indication, the 63-yearold Detroit native – who rose from a tough inner-city childhood to become director of neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins and the first doctor to successfully separate twins conjoined at the head – is already starting to pick up traction.
A Public Policy Polling survey this week in North Carolina found that GOP voters in that state ranked Carson – yes, Carson – as their top pick among nine potential GOP candidates.

What has he done prior to this that would make you think he is qualified to be the most powerful man on Earth? Or is that a racist question?
I’m not. This guy is not ready for prime time. His 2A stance is a deal killer, for starters.
If he did the above, he just killed any chance at a nomination.
This is the type of Black man that should have been the First Black President someone deeply familiar with the AMERICAN experience not that other guy

It's a valid one of course.
So, in my own opinion, his body of publicly available work speaks to his character and ability to rationally look at problems instead of spewing jingoistic, inflammatory, and self defeating propaganda.
That in itself is a VAST improvement over what we have now.
His policy statements on everything from domestic policy, especially the evil of ‘Obama Care’, to foreign policy is well thought out.
It’s just hard to get around the fact that Carson believes each individual’s personal medical records should be carried around in a microchip embedded under the skin.

I have more government, political, military, foreign policy, workforce development, intelligence and business experience than Dr. Carson, but do you see me running for the highest office in the land? Of course not! The idea is laughable on its face! There’s a reason we don’t elect novice newcomers to that office. Go read the biography of George Washington, Ronald Reagan, Thomas Jefferson, William McKinley or Dwight Eisenhower.
I agree with you. He is an accomplished neurosurgeon with a long and accomplished career at Johns Hopkins, one of the very best. He also has suffered his own health issues and has a sense of humility, and he is very philanthropic in supporting bootstrapping-type programs for those most in need (charity, not government mandated social programs). If It weren’t for his second amendment policy I would support him unreservedly.
Then stop whining. If you’re unwilling to step up, why are your throwing darts at someone who’s thinking about?
But a discussion and well reasoned argument, NOT a shouting match, is what I like about him.
He is wrong, again in my opinion, on the second amendment, but I bet I could make a strong case to him that would be able to point out why and, I think, I'd have a shot at convincing him.
What has he said about the second amendment? I hope he is not one of those idiotic gun grabbers.
It is his open mind and desire to translate his conservative beliefs into specific policies that have me favoring his candidacy. I would like to be convinced that he will not be to the second amendment what Marco Rubio became for the illegals. As I wrote, that is my only concern.
He is opposed to gun registration. He also is opposed to semi-automatic weapons in dense urban areas.
Because it is DOOMED TO FAIL and we don’t get many such chances as we’ll have in 2016. Don’t you get it? I was just using my background as an example. If I, a virtual NOBODY, have more experience in a dozen important areas than does your candidate, what kind of nominee and more importantly, WHAT KIND OF PRESIDENT will he make?! Wake up!

Brilliant doctor. STAY a doctor where your talents are needed.
This isn’t a real candidacy, so why must we pretend it is, and play this energy consuming, time wasting, mission distracting game, for the next 18 months?
