Obama gives the Castro regime in Cuba an undeserved bailout
Washington Post ^ | December 17, 2014 | By Editorial Board

IN RECENT months, the outlook for the Castro regime in Cuba was growing steadily darker. The modest reforms it adopted in recent years to improve abysmal economic conditions had stalled, due to the regime’s refusal to allow Cubans greater freedoms. Worse, the accelerating economic collapse of Venezuela meant that the huge subsidies that have kept the Castros afloat for the past decade were in peril. A growing number of Cubans were demanding basic human rights, such as freedom of speech and assembly.

On Wednesday, the Castros suddenly obtained a comprehensive bailout — from the Obama administration. President Obama granted the regime everything on its wish list that was within his power to grant; a full lifting of the trade embargo requires congressional action. Full diplomatic relations will be established, Cuba’s place on the list of terrorism sponsors reviewed and restrictions lifted on U.S. investment and most travel to Cuba. That liberalization will provide Havana with a fresh source of desperately needed hard currency and eliminate U.S. leverage for political reforms. . .

Just wait for him to give Castro the American installation at Guantanamo. This will happen before 2016.

Dear idiots at the WashPo! You protected your boy in the White House and now you cry when he-is-such-a-good-boy starts hanging around the thugs down the street. He’s a dang commie you screwballs.

There had better be no funds in any GOP budget for construction of an embassy.

I recall hearing a conversation between my mother and a woman who had recently escaped from Cuba after the revolution who told stories of atrocities committed on the Cubans. Looting of property, buildings, merchandise "for the revolution", gang rapes, torture, and murder for anyone that complained. The "liberation of Cuba" was really just a thinly disguised conquest.

The Castro's/communists have held Cuban people hostage for fifty years.

In 1997, the U.S.Interests Section (the former U.S. embassy located On Havana’s oceanfront Malecon) completed a 3-year, $21,000,000 upgrade. I don’t think that they’re going to be able to convince the House to throw in any more. They may want to build some consulates in, say, Guantanamo or Santiago de Cuba. I was stationed at USINT FROM 1993-1997. Be great to be back there now.

The idiots that voted for him have no idea what you said.

The only news they receive is covered by a dog and its brood on hot summer days.

And that’s one of the most frustrating things today. They’re so stupid and indoctrinated that they are like zombies and don’t have a clue.

The media should suffer for what they’ve done to our country.

Obama proved long ago that he respects America’s enemies more than our nation’s friends.

We are coming and we are bringing McDonalds, Starbucks (I don’t like Starsucks, but it’s branded) and Apple computers. Some nice resorts and you will be Cuba no more. You will be... South Florida. I actually think it is past time to establish some nice beach getaways on Cuba. Within a decade Cuba won’t be a Communist at the door, they will be Florida, but maybe for the younger crowd.

There are already nice beaches in Cuba - European pedophiles vacation in Cuba for that and child sex; so far this vacation wonderland hasn’t really changed anything. Cuba just keeps regular Cubans from enjoying the surf, because there’s a tendency for them to not come back to shore.

Not Club Gitmo

Up until recently, 2013 or so, Cuba wouldn’t even allow Cubans into the same hotels as foreigners use, now Cubans are allowed into some of them, though they are still subject to being watched and questioned at any point before, during and after their stay.

Something really weird about westerners yucking it up in Cuban resorts while Cubans aren’t allowed to yuck it up themselves there, much less to leave the island and enjoy traveling.

"You know its bad when the Compost disagrees"

The WaPo editorial board always disagrees with Obama on foreign policy issues because Fred Hiatt who heads the board is a neocon.

So, generally, those who most disagree with Obama on foreign policy issues are going to be NeoCon republicans and Liberal Interventionist democrats

We obviously don’t care to support our own interests, which means we don’t help those who benefit us. Dear leader’s just following the new standard that was set decades ago.
