A Texas plumber is receiving threatening calls after his old pickup truck appeared in a jihadist video in Syria.
The Ansar Al-Deen terrorist group used his truck in a propaganda video in Syria.

The Ansar Al-Deen Front, an independent Islamist group operating near Aleppo, Syria, posted video of the truck used in fighting.

FOX News reported:

A Texas plumber has been receiving threats after a photo emerged of Islamic extremists in Syria firing a high-powered gun from the bed of his old pickup, which still bears his company’s logo on the door.

An extremist group, Ansar al-Deen Front, posted the photo of its fighters aboard the Ford F-250 sometime on Monday. That prompted a flood of calls to Mark Oberholtzer, who owns Mark-1 Plumbing in Texas City, and has nothing to do with Syria’s bloody civil war.

“How it ended up in Syria, I’ll never know,” Oberholtzer told The Galveston Daily News.

Oberholtzer told the paper that he traded in the truck three years ago. The Houston dealership he turned it over to, AutoNation, told KHOU.com that the truck was auctioned and was likely traded from owner to owner over the course of three years.

How much does it cost to ship a truck to Syria?

Was this one of those Cash-for-Clunkers vehicles?

At least the photo didn’t show the Plumber’s Crack in the video.

All you need is a heat gun and about a half hour to remove the letters. The Plumber will pay a high price for his laziness.

This is going to have a devastating effect on the used car and truck market.

Some people just have way too much damn time on their hands. If they want to be angry, then go to Syria and go fight ISIS.

Like some plumber in Texas is really loaning out his truck to some terrorists. In a sane world, people would have called him and said “holy cow! Did you see there is a truck with your number on it in Syria?”.

Nah. They need to call him and threaten him.

I do hope they find any and all idiots who made threats upon the poor guy and nail them for assault. Anyone harassing that fellow is a dangerous moron.

Was it the ISIS edition F-150 with the standard chattel cages for kidnapping pre-pubescent girls, built-in prayer rugs, the ability to run on bootleg crude oil and the goatskin seats?

I doubt it’s his truck. He probably just found a great price to have his name advertised there.

There’s a big business being done in buying used pickups and vans, putting them in cargo containers and shipping them to the middle east and parts of southeast asia. From what i’ve read, they usually go for toyotas and nissans though.

I guess it pays to remove all logo’s and advertising from vehicles when you sell/trade them in.

I guess it is cheaper to do this on the grey/black market than to buy one through official routes.

The clunker trades were supposed to be parted out, impossible to resell as whole even if someone put in a different engine that brought it into non-clunker fuel efficiency standards. This was an early sign of Barack’s wicked side... they did the closest thing to torture killing those engines they could.

But anyhow this guy would have absolutely no reason to want to feature his signage in a terrorist video. I mean what is this, when you have to take time off your terrorism because your plumbing suffers from evil djinn, call Jim?

I guess the moral of the story is: if you are going to trade in your vehicle with a sign, paint it over first.

Good question. It can't be cheap.

Like Cash-AND-clunkers....0bola not only gave the Syrians our cash, he probably also gave them our clunkers :(

The whole world is getting more evil, bit by bit. That is why sanity isn’t prevailing. There is no plausible way this wasn’t the result of anything wrong he did except being lazy about painting over his sign before selling the truck. And maybe not even that, if whoever bought the truck had promised to do it for him.

The vehicles were supposed to be recycled or parted out.

Maybe some enterprising black-marketers stepped up and said, hey you dealers overflowing with snuffed clunkers, here’s yer recycling service right here!

A wink, a nod, a handshake and there they were.

It would be interesting to get the guy’s story.. call him up and say no you aren’t threatening, you are curious!

This type of stuff has been going on for decades.
A friend of mine had a old Toyota back around 91-92 era that he sold to a broker instead of trading it in, since he gave him about twice what it would have fetched at trade-in. He asked what was the deal? The broker told him that they ship good American used cars to Latin America and overseas where they are in high demand, and his old car would sell easily for twice what he gave for it. So there is profit to be made............

I guess depends if it is decal or paint-on.

If an American automobile or truck is not wrecked, or chopped after being stolen, it lives on ... somewhere ... for up to 25 years. Vehicles bought at bust-out auctions for a few hundred bucks ... or less ... are easily shipped in containers all over the world. If they are going to the Caribbean, or SA, they often make it without the container on small ships, some amazingly small!

Many countries have exorbitant taxes on vehicles, so they might even be smuggled in. In LA, the trade is in the hands of Iranians, and a lot of it is even legal, more or less. There is also an international market in stolen vehicles of all descriptions. In fact, it is a major part of the economy of colorful and quaint Albania (Stolen cars and parts, Prostitution, Heroin, and People Smuggling are about 90% of GNP. Sweet!), but a lot of their cars come from Europe and are flogged throughout Eastern Europe and Russia and they like later model units.

So, is Oberholtzer the Plumber getting any business from Syria with that phone number on the door?
