Coalition of Wisconsin business owners opposes right-to-work plan

MADISON, Wis. -- A newly formed coalition of more than 300 construction-related private businesses in Wisconsin announced Wednesday that it will work to defeat a right-to-work proposal being discussed by Republican leaders in the Legislature.

Formation of the group comes as talks proceed behind the scenes among Republicans who control the Legislature about the timing of a right-to-work bill and what form it may take.

Gov. Scott Walker repeated his message Wednesday, during a brief speech to Republican state senators in the Capitol, that he sees right-to-work as a distraction from his agenda. He told lawmakers he wants them focused on his legislative agenda, but he also didn't promise to veto a right-to-work bill should it pass.

The coalition does not list any unions among its members, even though they are the strongest opponents of the right-to-work laws that prohibit workers from being required to join a union or pay dues as a condition of employment.

Steve Lyons, spokesman for the Wisconsin Contractor Coalition, said that new members were constantly being added to the group and that no one was being included or excluded. He was vague about how it's being funded and who's leading the effort, saying that it was a grass-roots movement with members voluntarily contributing as much as they want to pay for it.

A newly formed coalition of more than 300 construction-related private businesses . . .

What are the odds that all 300 of them mostly do government contracts with unionized employees and are fearful of competition?

Whenever you hear something being proposed that rejects the concept of voluntary, mutual, and ethical cooperation,

without fail, leftists are involved.

Another hilariously fake “grass root” group. It’s like the other fake groups such as J street (a.k.a. Jews against Israel). We’re expect the formation of other Democrat leaning fake groups such as Feminists for subjugation of women in Muslim countries, Blacks against School Choice, Gun Owners for Gun Control, and even Unborn Babies for Abortion!

I suspect these businesses employ union workers and enjoy that competitive advantage in bidding/receiving work. People generally vote their pocketbook.

They don’t want anything to endanger their sweetheart relationships with the labor unions.

For those of you who think Gov. Scott Walker is a stellar conservative, the fact that he is Open-Borders and now the following statement by him, should be an eye-opener:

My question to you is, can you see Senator Ted Cruz saying the same thing?

My understanding is Representative Chris Kapenga (R-99th District) plans to introduce RTW legislation when session opens. This may be Gov. Walkers way of taking the heat off him individually. Or perhaps he wants to avoid the trashing of government buildings by union members as happened two years ago....

Next month will be interesting as several states plan on introducing RTW legislation. Missouri, New Mexico, Wisconsin, and I believe Colorado(?).

Coalition challenges attempt to introduce Right to Work legislation in 2015 session. Scot Walker is against it too; calls it a distraction.

FReep mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.

He’ll get around to it. He’s in the process of snuffing out Common Core right now, and if Right To Work gets to his desk (as I suspect it will) he’ll sign it. ;)

One Leftist-induced problem at a time, Comrade. One problem at a time! We’re trying to reverse 50+ years of Socialist destruction in our state!

My Property Taxes went down by nearly $300 this year. He didn’t lie to me about that. He’s also kicking Planned Parenthood and other Wisconsin ‘abortion factories’ to the curb.

Scott Walker holds his cards very close to the vest and he will do the CONSERVATIVE thing in the end. Don’t be distracted by the smoke and mirrors. :)

Love. My. Gov. *HEART*

My personal property taxes went down about the same, and our business property taxes went down about $500. Unfortunately, our income went down even more! But, be grateful for small favors.

Gov. Walker says a bill to pass right to work is a distraction because he wants the Republican majority legislature to focus on other, necessary bills when the next term starts. We need a a number of other bills addressed, budget, tax matters, etc.

Putting right to work before these will delay getting nuts & bolts bills done. Why, because right to work is as hot button as was Act 10, the law that affected public employee unions and led to a year of protests, the recall and legislative delays.

Right to work can come up later in the legislative session and Walker will probably sign the bill when it gets on his desk.
