SONY PULLS THE PLUG ON 'THE INTERVIEW'
TMZ ^ | 12/17/2014 | TMZ Staff

Sony has pulled the plug on the XMAS release of "The Interview," after a number of theater chains bailed.

Sony execs felt their out was if distributors yanked the film because of safety concerns. That would give Sony an out without directly bending to the hackers. Sony just released a statement, saying, "In light of the decision by the majority of our exhibitors not to show the film The Interview, we have decided not to move forward with the planned December 25 theatrical release."

The statement goes on, saying, "We are deeply saddened at this brazen effort to suppress the distribution of a movie, and in the process do damage to our company, our employees, and the American public."

The execs are underscoring the distinction between pulling the film because of the distributors rather than out of fear, saying, "We stand by our filmmakers and their right to free expression and are extremely disappointed by this outcome."

Hell, they all look alike to me.

Like a bunch of robots, insects, or something.

My Dad refers to people from that part of the world as “Gooks”. Having been in Vietnam for a few years, and having been shot by some of them gives him that right I guess. He killed his share of them too though. His favorite was one that he tossed from a helicopter while his buddy shot the guy as he was falling. He also collected their ears in jars. Said he was pissed when he couldn’t bring them back home. lol What scares me is the stuff he won’t talk about.

Liberal hypocrites get their ass handed to them, news at 11:00.

Maybe they should give Barry more money to stop the shenanigans.

I don’t think that north Korea has the power to do very much as far as terrorism in the united states

Doesn't take much to assassinate a few people. If they can hack Sony's back office database, they can locate people. NK managed to penetrate a closed society with no significant Korean community like Burma and almost take out the hardest of the hard targets - the South Korean president. They "failed" in that they only took out several South Korean cabinet members. Think of how McVeigh and Nichols managed to destroy the Murrah Federal Building. NK's operatives don't need to go after anything so heavily-protected. By comparison, Hollywood personalities are practically naked.

I can’t imagine collecting human ears, but I guess that place probably twisted people in ways we couldn’t imagine. It was funny how when I was young and asked him about it, he said he was far from the action and never hurt anybody. When I got older, he opened up, and told me the stuff he REALLY did. It explained the big ‘chunk’ of leg he had missing that I was always curious about. lol

Obama's probably praying that we don't get a mass casualty NK attack on US soil. It would make clear that his weakness has been provocative. The white vote would swing even more decisively towards the GOP. If we get to the 70% threshold nationwide for that demographic, the Democrats get shellacked in 2016.

War is war, but collecting trophies seems to indicate joy in it. What about the guy in the helicopter? He had to already be in it, prisoner? I hope your dad has found some peace.

If you’re spending money distributing something that no one wants to buy would you continue to spend money marketing it?

The movie is getting more free publicity than any movie maker could ever dream of purchasing. SONY should simply release it straight to DVD and instant video rental/purchase.

Agree. It disgusts me that this country and Hollywood now cater to the whims of cyber-terrorists and despots. Why doesn’t Obama issue an executive order requiring Sony to release it and theatres to show it?

As I repeat here often, we would not have this problem if Clinton had nuked the bastard’s father before he got nukes.

I never thought I would see the day when some two-bit fascist brings the US movie industry to its cowering knees. What’s next? No more islamo-fascist bad guys? I guess only white males will be fair game.

I guess that begs the question on Obama’s statement that the war on terror is over. If one stops fighting, can that individual be considered as being at war????

For the first time in someone’s life; they are proud of their country.
