Bill de Blasio kept more than 100 people waiting for a commercial flight from JFK Airport to Puerto Rico because he was running late.
The revelation will do nothing to alleviate New York's mayor of his reputation for tardiness.
Passengers including city officials and holidaygoers had no idea why the boarding gate remained closed for 20 minutes after it was due to open on November 6. Finally, de Blasio arrived with an entourage of security, and the JetBlue flight was deemed ready for boarding.
The mayor and his security were seated first before others were allowed to board.
It has since emerged, in documents obtained by DNAinfo New York, that airport officials were ordered to hold the plane by de Blasio's NYPD security squad who radioed over.

Mayor Koch would have shown up late, missed the flight and spent half the day at the airport waiting for the next flight, shaking peoples hands and asking everyone he met how they thought he was doing as mayor.

Your post needed repeating. Koch was a man of the people be you democrat or republican or neither. De Blassio is part of the ruling elite. This is straight out of Orwell's 1984 and Animal Farm.
He’s a member of the ruling leftist elite. They are essentially dictators who really think they are benevolent.
They set up the system so money flows to THEM, without fail, whether they are in office or not.
They make laws they don’t follow.
I despise them.
New Yorkers elected him, let New Yorkers suffer. I have heard it from the pResident that “elections have consequences”.
