The National Hockey League's puzzling outbreak of the mumps has now reached the league's biggest star.
Sidney Crosby has the vaccine-preventable disease. The Pittsburgh Penguins announced the diagnosis in a news release Sunday morning.
According to the release, Crosby will be "monitored daily, but specialists believe he should be through the infectious period by Monday."

The problem with mumps is you end up shooting blanks of your a guy.
This is not a disease that adult males want to catch. It can cause sterility! My father’s brother got mumps when he was 19 and became sterile as a result. My father got mumps at the same time, but since he was the youngest child, he was only 4 or 5.

Doesn’t matter. The Ducks are going to win the Cup this year anyway - and they infected the league with mumps, so the disease is peaking at playoff time!

I don’t know about that... the Islanders are shockingly strong so far this season. Last year, they won 13 games at home in 41 games. This year, they’re already at 12 or 13. They beat the Pens both times in a home and home against them. Pens are always usually 1st or 2nd in the eastern conference.
Mumps has never really been gone. I’ve got a friend from England and he says mumps cycles through the schools there same as chickenpox. And let’s not forget the anti-vax crowd, they certainly have played a part in bringing diseases back, especially the extra looney section that SEEKS to get their kids sick.
Well, it *is* typically a Kid’s disease ....

As it stands, I never had the chicken pox until I was in the army and I caught it from my roommate.......So they quarantined me for about 10 days at the dispensary.......
