In Pakistan school attack, Taliban terrorists kill 145, mostly children
CNN ^ | 12/16/14 | Sophia Saifi and Greg Botelho

A deadly, hours-long siege of a school in northwest Pakistan ended Tuesday evening with all the Taliban militants responsible killed, at least 130 people -- most of them children -- dead and a country once again grasping for answers after a horrific attack.

Six suicide bombers scaled the walls of Army Public School and Degree College in the violence-plagued city of Peshawar around 10 a.m. (midnight ET) intent on killing older students there, according to Mohammed Khurrassani, a spokesman for the Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan, or Pakistan Taliban.

These Taliban had "300 to 400 people ... under their custody" at one point, Khurrassani said.

Pakistan’s 9/11

Will its leaders at last end their dalliance with terrorists?
Tom Rogan

Welcome to the world of the Pakistani Taliban: Tehrik-e-Taliban (TTP).

Blending Deobandi fanaticism with warped Pashtunwali traditionalism, despising individual freedom and intellectual curiosity, these fanatics found an Army school in Peshawar to be a tempting target. Some might be shocked by this attack, but I am not. This kind of rampage has been coming.

This summer, I warned that Pakistani politicians and security officials were juggling with fire in their flirtation with the TTP. Led by Fazlullah, an unrepentant psychopath, the TTP has escalated its atrocities. Attacking Christian and Shia Muslim religious sites, cafés, and women (Fazlullah directed the attack on the now-famous schoolgirl Malala), the TTP, like the Islamic State, seeks a return to medieval authoritarianism.

So now Pakistan has its 9/11 moment. Facing the loss of more than 140 children, will it end its dalliance with terrorists? The early signs are somewhat hopeful.....(Snip)

Thus it has always been.

Is possible, I’m being targeted for not receiving comments from other sites except here. I’m serious. Most sites ask me for information (which I ignore) or ignore me when I click to see comments. I don’t know why ....

Why should we help some barbarians fight other barbarians?
Why not let them fight each other.

Like I said, IF Pakistan wanted to be rid of the Taliban, they would be. But they don’t. They want the Taliban there.

So what kind of people would we really be helping?

Let me help you out. We’d be helping out Pakistan who is not our friend against Pakistani Taliban who are also not our friends. Just like we did in Afghanistan.

And what have we got to show for it?

Let me help you out again. A pile of dead American bodies and NO CHANGE WHATSOEVER IN AFGHANISTAN. They are still a backward barbarian culture and will stay a backward barbarian culture.

But go ahead and volunteer the lives of young Americans to go help barbarian cultures to .... stay barbarian cultures.

We’re not going to change their culture. And if we’re going to go over there and kill every one of them (as has been suggested not by me but by many here of FR many times) then why not let as many of them kill each other first so we’ll have fewer to kill ourselves?

1.6 billion of them. Where do we start?

Paul, those people controlling that site are hiding their comments from us. It’s a conspiracy.

Why should we help some barbarians fight other barbarians?

Because once they stop fighting each other, they will turn their attention to us.

And there will be fewer of them.

There are hundreds of Islamic sects who all hate each other (and ALLL OF THEM hate us). Let them kill as many of each other first.

Why interfere?

We have no friends in Pakistan. Afghanistan or any majority Islamic country. None.

We are fortunate that they are so dysfunctional that they spend a lot of time and resources killing each other.

That gives us time to be ready.

Maybe I’m just callous, but every Muslim killed by another Muslim, is one less Muslim that we’ll have to fight in WW3.

The Turkish article linked at comment #54 did NOT have comments. I have just clicked my links at comments #38 and #39 and there are now over 3,000 comments. You have to wait a little while for them to come up. I didn’t see any the first time and was about to click HIDE COMMENTS to see what would happen and then all the comments started to appear below that area. Try again, be patient. Anyone else having trouble or been able to read comments on these links?

Hope you all find the comments this time. Meanwhile I have been reading other news. Although the Pakistani Taliban thought to scare the Army, apparently they have poked a hornet’s nest instead. In addition many of the students were not Army. It seems that ambitious parents send their kids to Army schools like ambitious inner city parents send their kids to Catholic schools. Meanwhile, the Afghan Taliban have called this action un-Islamic and disavow it.

You wonder when the rest of the world will get it. These people are very sick bastards, as bad as the nazis. They will murder innocent men, women and children, muslim, jews, christians, white or black, it makes no difference. They observe no Geneva convention or other rules of civilized society.

I am afraid Ann Coulter was right. There is only one solution - total war and a requirement of total repudiation for this religion, as was done with the nazis. burn the books, erase the websites, eliminate the leadership.

This is not the cold war that can be won economically or philosophically. These animals don’t care about money or human life.

Hi, Gleeaikin,

If you have some other links, please post them. But the one you posted from AJ just has a “Hide comments bar” (with no comments showing), after being “up” overnight. This on 3 different computers in 2 different locations over 50 miles apart, on 2 different days. And I’ve been on reasonably fast connections (fiber optic yesterday, cable today.) I have no idea why I and others can’t see the comments. It could be some sort of security block(s), but I get no message to that effect.

Am thinking you are correct Paul ... some sort of ‘security block’. Someone may have spotted something or Virus Protection may have recognized something but determined not to place out a warning cause was unrecognized coding, perhaps.

Left up all night, boy that’s dedication. I spoke to my computer guy and he couldn’t come up with a reason but doubts that NSA has anything to do with it. Have you sent hate mail to Al Jazeera? ;-) Didn’t know the Hornet reference, but according to Google it is Charlotte, NC area?

Here is another link for you. It starts with fact of US using Tomahawk missles at Syria about 2 months ago, but quickly descends into a lot of long, interesting, and knowledgeable comments about the entire Syria and rebels situation in great and complex detail:
http://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/2h7sgl/uss_arleigh_burke_launches_tomahawk_land_attack/

Today I heard a reference to the variety of names used for rebels, IS ISIS, ISIL, and a new one Daesh. I think they said something about crushing under foot, but could not remember for sure, so back to Google. Islamic State is liked by them and gives them the legitimacy of statehood. Most say don’t use it. British Muslims suggest using Un-Islamic State, use it themselves and UK media are starting to as well. Obama and British moved from ISIS (Islamic State in Syria) to ISIL (Islamic State in the Levant). Levant is an old term which encompasses Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, etc. Since it includes State, also not good to use. Besides ISIS is a beloved goddess of Egypt and others. She doesn’t deserve this disrespect. Daesh, Diesh, Da’esh, Daech, and others is apparently considered quite insulting by Arab speakers, has connotations of crushing (perhaps under foot). Remember the great insult to Bush of the thrown shoe. I say we go with Daesh or a variant. Let’s keep them pissed off and off balance!!
http://www.theguardian.com/world/shortcuts/2014/sep/21/islamic-state-isis-isil-daesh
Hope all these comments show up this time.
