A deadly, hours-long siege of a school in northwest Pakistan ended Tuesday evening with all the Taliban militants responsible killed, at least 130 people -- most of them children -- dead and a country once again grasping for answers after a horrific attack.

Six suicide bombers scaled the walls of Army Public School and Degree College in the violence-plagued city of Peshawar around 10 a.m. (midnight ET) intent on killing older students there, according to Mohammed Khurrassani, a spokesman for the Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan, or Pakistan Taliban.

These Taliban had "300 to 400 people ... under their custody" at one point, Khurrassani said.

Muslims killing Muslims.

Its no longer Jews, Christians or Hindus who are a prime target for Islamic terrorists.

Now its the Friday people who are fit for wanton slaughter.

What outcome do these murderers hope to gain?
How can they possibly think that by murdering innocent babies it will help their cause?”

I agree with Biden on that. The Taliban is not their [Biden’s] enemy. The Taliban is Biden’s, Obama’s, and Obama’s worshipers ally. For now. One day they will turn on them, but that day has not arrived yet. The Taliban is the enemy of all Americans.

A great quote from a Batman movie... “Some people just want to see the world burn”...

“God what have we done to deserve this scourge?”

Allowed an entire generation of kids to spend most of their time in front of computers, and getting in “touch with their feelings”.

Actually, I think the just retribution for slaughtering half of that generation is going to be more of a problem...

What outcome do these murderers hope to gain?

This attack was meant as a message to the Pakistani military leadership (many of the students are children of military officers). The message: If you take action against us, we will murder your children.

The Nazis did much the same thing.

It will be interesting to see how the Pakistani military responds.

Intimidation and polarization, its mixed.
Killing army officers kids is meant to discourage attacks by the army. Some officers may be looking over their shoulders at their personal interests.
It also reduces the public perception that the army can protect the local people from the Taliban if they can’t protect their own. This may reduce their willingness to cooperate with the army/make them more willing to work with the Taliban. Its all about who is seen to be more dangerous.
Also possible that the army will freak out and commit its own atrocities, making enemies that the Taliban can recruit.
In any case there is little downside in such an organization doing this sort of thing as they don’t depend on conventional morality, even by Paki standards.

Nope, just America’s toxic “gun culture”. It’s terrible how much it has spread to the middle east.

Lest we forget, these attacks upon their “neighbors” are merely staging operations for long term attacks upon their ultimate enemies: Israel and the United States.

Unfortunately, the idea that terrorists will stop at a border is not true.

Truly, I would rather stop them over there than fight them here.

I wonder if we’ll find that any of the five Taliban that Obama released for Bergdahl were involved in this? Wouldn’t surprise me.

I often wonder what causes a human being to become a sub-human being. What makes human beings completely ignore their inherent emotions of empathy and sympathy. What makes a Taliban or Nazi or other horrific people throughout history become so brutal against innocents?

Yes, I know that they are guided by their theology or ideology or lust for power, but what made them lose or ignore their humanity?

Maybe I'm asking the wrong question. Rather than what/why, the real question is when did they bury those traits? There's probably books and articles out there that attempts to explain it, but I have yet to read it.

The above said, they should all be erased from this planet.

IIUC, the children were all of families in the military, who have been (or supposed to have been) hunting down the Taliban. Terrorizing the "enemy" by killing his kids. Like Beslan, without the rapes.

In response to what do they hope to gain?
What most Taliban and other terrorists do not realize is that they are subconsciously suicidal. Thus all their acts lead to death for others and ultimately themselves. This will most likely unite Pakistanis in searching them out root and branch in the wild areas and others as well. Should be good news for Afghanistan as well. Here is an Al Jazeera article on the attack. The death toll is up to 142. I chose Al Jazeera as I figured the more than 1,000 comments would give us a better sense of Muslim world feeling on this attack and possible actions than MSM.

The public reaction that matters in this case is in the frontier areas of Pakistan.
