Sandy Hook Families Sue AR15 Manufacturer

A handful of families impacted by the Sandy Hook school shooting have decided to ease their grief by suing the manufacturer of AR style rifles. Obviously, a little unnecessary litigation is the most effective way to right the wrongs of a madman. According to CNBC:

Ten families touched by the Newtown massacre filed a wrongful death lawsuit Monday against companies that made, distributed and sold the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle that Adam Lanza used to kill 20 children and six staffers at Sandy Hook Elementary two years ago. The suit argues that the gun is a military assault weapon that never should have been on the general market.

"Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act"

"In the years before passage of the act, victims of firearms violence in the United States had successfully sued manufacturers and dealers for negligence on the grounds that they should have foreseen that their products would be diverted to criminal use."The purpose of the act is to prevent firearms manufacturers and dealers from being held liable for negligence when crimes have been committed with their products.

The families and their lawyers are pi**ing up a rope.

I have little doubt like any large and successful corporation, Bushmaster has a large and well-funded legal department. If Bushmaster were a small operation the legal costs might destroy them. But it's not.

In a sane world this suit would be summarily tossed out. In a sane world that is...

This is CT. Any particular reason to think any of those teachers would have had a gun without this law?

Think outside the box, Sherman.

How about suing Pfizer for making the psychotropic drugs the kid was taking?

Perhaps they should sue the manufacturer of his mattress? Simmons? Sealy? Sleep Number? Because it seems that he got up on the wrong side of the bed that day. Without the mattress defects, the massacre might never have occurred.

Why not sue the car manufacturer after a drunk driving death?
Answer: Because it is patently STUPID to do so.

Their tactic might be to find a sympathetic (ie. leftard) judge who will let this go to trial, then hope Bushmaster settles rather than having some anti-gun, emotional jury award the plaintiff 10 bazillion dollars.

This was on the news last night - daughter of the slain teacher (I think) and her lawyer. His picture is next to the definition of “sleazy douchebag” in the dictionary and while I’m sympathetic, I had nothing good to say about the daughter either.

the very bottom line - there isn’t money anywhere else.

BTW - how much are the lawyers involved going to get?

Suing a gun manufacture for a death is like suing Ford for a death by a drunk driver. Freakin' Libs are brain dead. BRAINLESS

This won’t even reach a courtroom. Bushmaster has broken no laws.I have a an identical Bushmaster 5.56 and it has not hurt a soul.

But... in a liberal fantasyland...

“Just because the action and end result on your rifle is the same as hundreds of other unassuming rifles, it looks mean. You should not built black guns that look mean.”

“Follow the Money!” I’ll bet none of these families are putting any cash on the line for this bogus lawsuit. The money for whatever crooked lawyer is filling this must be coming from Bloomburg or Sorous.

The bushmaster worked just as designed. It was legally sold.
So sue the kid and his mother. Oh wait they can’t.
A good attorney for the gun manufacture should file a counter suite against all ten families. Let them put a little skin in the game.

AFAIK, he used that to kill Mom, but I haven’t seen claims he had it in the school.

"How about suing Pfizer for making the psychotropic drugs the kid was taking?"

I'm not sure Adam Lanza was taking his meds.

But how about suing the State of Connecticut for allowing bat**** crazy people who are obviously a danger to themselves and others have free rein?

Leftist nutjob reasoning: “Assault” rifles are defective, because all on their own - with no deranged human in the loop - they commit mass killings of children.

Maybe I should sue Ford Motor company because a really drunk illegal alien driving a Ford vehicle rear ended me, totaling my vehicle and putting me in the hospital. Then after his two days in jail he was released and fled back to Mexico. Maybe I should also sue Governor Jerry Brown personally for inviting and encouraging illegals from Mexico into the state.

I hope Wolfgang Halbig joins on the side of the firearms company. The discovery process will finally destroy the myth that is Sandy Hook. As usual the gun grabbing Left’s political handlers over playing their hand. My guess is they will reconsider and withdraw the law suit.
