God bless him and all the other Law Enforcement Officers who help keep our streets safe and enforce laws in a lawless society.

Here in the USA he would be flooded with grief counseling sessions, and isolated by being relieved of duty for several days or more. Back at work tomorrow,,, very cool. Very Aussie.

That can happen here as well. Hopefully with the Deputy Commissioner onside, he’ll only be put into counseling if he needs it.

There’s nothing wrong with it if you do - but it goes way too far at times.

But how does it make him feel?/s. You also forgot the workers comp claim for his emotional distress, and the complaint from his spouse over the emotional and physical effects of his harm.

Here in the U.S. he’d be retiring on a stress/medical, padding an already generous bloated government retirement pension.

Shoot, in America, he'd be relieved of his firearm due to 'PTSD Issues'.

“A brave man. A lucky man too.”

I would agree on the lucky part, but how was bravery involved?

He is a brave man, but if there are enough officers without him, they would be smart to ask this Officer to stay home for a least two weeks. The emotional damages that result from this sort of shock may not be apparent for a few days.

He ran into a room where a man was shooting people. As others ran out.
