Here's the chart for the Houston MSA for single family starts. Certainly recovered faster than the US as a whole but 30+% below last peak and considering the population growth . job creation in Houston in the energy sector it doesn't look out of line. Now what will happen given oils collapse? That's a whole other story...

I wouldn’t consider that an accident, either, though I don’t think it follows on economic grounds except perhaps as a pretext.
