Peg Brokaw, 95, had missed the early Saturday morning Mass at St. Rose of Lima, on Church Hill Road in Newtown, but said she would go inside and say a prayer, anyway. She has lived in this town a long time, and tells you her son is a retired policeman here, one who still directs traffic in front of the church occasionally.
And because this was another December in Newtown, two years now since 20 children and six adults were shot dead inside Sandy Hook Elementary, because Peg Brokaw stood outside what became the church of small coffins in Newtown, she was asked about that day.
“It is,” she said, “the kind of sadness that lives forever.”
Behind her, underneath the statue of the Blessed Virgin in front of St. Rose, there is a memorial to that sadness, a lovely mural sent to Msgr. Robert Weiss to commemorate the second year since the shooting, the names of the dead of Sandy Hook listed in small, colorful boxes. After Mass on this morning men and women of the church had been setting white candles on the walkway leading to the statue, and the mural.
“When they’re lit I imagine it will look like a stairway to heaven,” Peg Brokaw said....

There were two unarmed women in there with the kids. Not much chance of them taking out an armed man. Also, they were surely the first people shot when Lanza entered.
I don’t have a theory because we know what happened. We watched it unfold that day. It was pretty cut and dried.
Antisocial kid goes on a shooting spree. It’s not exactly the first time it has ever happened. Dozens of witnesses, dead mother, destroyed computer (just like the VT gunman).
You have to suspend a lot of logic to come up with an alternative narrative. All the Newtherisms have just been plain absurd.
Newtown never happened, according to some “sources”. It was a government inspired make-believe crisis to try to void the second amendment.
And now we hear that Sandy Hook victims are filing a lawsuit against the firearm manufacturer.

If Adam Lanza had Asperger’s then I believe that loud noises would have freaked him out. Have you ever blown off a round out of a Bushmaster indoors? Or a Semi Auto handgun? I would think after two or three shots that kid would have been sitting on the floor with his hands over his ears rocking back and forth. Forget concentration and accuracy. I just cannot make this thing work out as its been presented.
More likely the poor kid was there but not the shooter. That’s if 26 people really got killed. At Columbine only 13 people got killed and you had two shooters with all the time in the world.
Beyond the Internet, the Newthers are even more odious - calling up parents of dead kids to tell them their child never existed, standing outside their homes with cameras, taking pictures of kids' tombstones to embellish their lunatic theories.

Not everyone with ASD is bothered by loud noises, and even the ones that are are not necessarily bothered by all loud noises. Really, if his condition wouldn’t have allowed him to carry out these acts, don’t you think a few of the many actual psychiatric professionals out there might have mentioned that?
As for Columbine, most of the people fled when the shooting started, so the shooters did not have the opportunity to corner very many people like Lanza did. If you watch those videos, most of the time was just spent walking around trying to find the few people left who hadn’t run out of the school. They could have killed many more people if they had any victims left to target.
It really is a special kind of stupid. I have enough problems with Truthers. Luckily, my sister is too dumb to understand the Truther theory. She just knows “the government did it”.
Newthers have a much higher level of suspended logic. They treat it like a sitcom.
