A hostage has been forced to hold up an Islamic State flag in the window of a shop in Martin Place that is currently under siege.

It is believed there are 12 hostages in the store and an ISIS flag has been placed in the window.

Martin Place is the main financial area of the Sydney CBD.

CNN across the street from Lindt Café at Channel 7 station that had been evacuated last night, and the anchor in US asked if the gunman was dead? The reporter there did not know.

My husband says ‘I’ll be my a$$ he’s dead!” Of course just seeing the shoot out, it would appear so, but we don’t know yet.
