Cheney on CIA interrogation: ‘I’d do it again in a minute’
Washington Times ^ | 12/14/2014 | By Jacqueline Klimas

Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday that, despite the backlash against harsh CIA interrogation tactics, he would authorize them again with no hesitation.

“It worked. It’s worked now for 13 years. We’ve avoided another mass casualty event against the United States,” he said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “I’d do it again in a minute.”

Senate Democrats last week released a report that described interrogation tactics including waterboarding, sleep deprivation, rectal feedings and confinements in coffin-sized boxes for more than a week. Many have called the actions torture, saying that they violate international agreements, but Mr. Cheney maintained that the administration consulted with lawyers at the time and made sure not to cross that line.

“Torture to me is an American citizen on a cell phone making the last call to his four young daughters shortly before he burns to death on the upper floors of the World Trade Center on 9/11,” he said.

When asked about the one in five innocent men who did not meet legal criteria to be imprisoned, including one who froze to death in CIA custody and was later found innocent, Mr. Cheney said he was more concerned with terrorists who were released and returned to the battlefield than innocent men who may have been harmed.

“I have no problem as long as we achieve our objective, which is to get the guys who caused 9/11 and to protect the United States,” he said.

Let that be sent to every bleeding-heart liberal/socialist including McCain. I love Cheney...a man amongst metro-males.

Why couldn’t Cheney have been POTUS instead of Bush?

I so miss adult leadership. We are governed by weak-minded children today.

Takes true guts to say something like that and makes my already deep respect for him only grow.

The idea that “Better that ten guilty persons go free than that one innocent suffer” is moralizing nonsense, for it’s proven by experience that the 10 guilty that are set free will more than likely cause, not just one, but many innocents suffer.

Of course the goal is to minimize innocent people being punished and so one devices the best process to do so. But no process is perfect and in search of perfection one ends up destroying the good.

When they first started talking about “torture” Bush should have brought out the Al-Quida training manual and read some of their methods of dealing with captives. Many of them involved power tools.

Very weak heart and it was public knowledge. Probably couldn’t have been elected.

The report is total BS. It was nothing more than senator frankenswine getting even with the CIA because they looked st what she’s hiding on her computers.
