Billionaire David Koch Says He’s a Social Liberal
ABC ^ | 12/14/14 | Benjamin Bell

Reclusive billionaire David Koch, a powerful donor in American conservative politics, says he’s a “social liberal.” “I’m basically a libertarian, and I’m a conservative on economic matters, and I’m a social liberal,” Koch told ABC News’ Barbara Walters....

Koch, who supports abortion rights and gay marriage, said he isn’t concerned with candidates he supports who don’t share some of his views. He said his primary concern when choosing a candidate to support is their fiscal policies.

Sure, it may not be what they “want”, but it always has been the inevitable result, what they “want” is irrelevant.

Koch is self-deceived. If they'll sell out the defenseless little babies and their supreme individual right, and if they'll throw the natural family under the bus, they will, once a little political pressure is applied, sell out his pocketbook. It's as certain as the sun rising in the morning.

Koch, who supports abortion rights and gay marriage,

Antonio Gramsci and George Lukacs planned an assault on Western culture. They reasoned that the proletariat of the world would never rise up in a world revolution while steeped in Christian culture, including Christian marriage and sexual values. Their goal was to destroy Christian culture to advance the marxist cause.

Not all libertarians support abortion “rights” — only libertarians who don’t believe that life begins at conception. Libertarians, who believe that feotuses are persons, do not believe there is any “right” to abortion.

A social liberal is automatically an economic liberal because social liberalism has a huge, huge, price tag. It’s too bad the American people cannot understand that.

And yet he’s demonized by the RATS because they need a boogeyman to scare their stupid followers.

Admiral James Stockdale, decorated Vietnam hero, was like that when it came to the unborn too. He never heard of an abortion of which he did not approve, unless it was possibly within his own family.

They’re clueless about the foundations of the claim to liberty.

Here’s what is wrong with America...

1) Promoting sex without marriage

2) Grinding down the middle class

3) Making sure that people with religion “don’t deserve to own businesses or money beyond poverty”

4)Making sure the middle class cannot afford to have children at replacement levels.

5) Promoting easy abortion and divorce on demand.

There is a reason why there are no libertarian societies or countries. Without non-contradictory and sufficient social standards one cannot have a stable society. The libertarian code of social standards is that your right to do as you wish stop at the end of my nose. But this is no where near enough of a boundary to form a cohesive society. This implies that you have no vital interests other than your own physical person. Is what happens to your friends and family not your interest? Is what happens to what you own not your interest? Is some stranger getting killed not your interest? The reason so many people are against abortion and same sex “marriage” is because they are wise enough to recognize that those activities will eventually impact their self interests. Abortion degrades the value of human life, which means it will in some way eventually degrade the life of those that are born. Same sex “marriage” makes a mockery of real marriage and family, thus reducing support for the institution of traditional families which has been the cornerstone of western societies and the primary supporter of human life and well being. The bells will eventually toll for thee. Post of the Day

Put in mind that most of the leftist push ultimately grinds down the middle class, and also essentially pushes a business oligopoly, all the whole same sex marriage offers nothin but distraction to the real, decaying, issue of the U.S. economy. As for the government they are headed on a path to anarchy as we speak. They may attempt to show some muscle, but it is about as convincing to me as Putin shirtless photos.

I love the Koch Bros & the Cato Institute. I am not pro-third trimester abortion but the morning after pill's OK; condoms break sometimes.

People can say they are married to their toaster ovens, for all I care.

In a free society, people are free to make mistakes and be stupid, as long as they stay off my property, they don't touch people's kids, and I retain freedom to mock them on Free Republic.

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

Social liberals serve the same masters as other liberals, whether they are aware of it or not.

"Liberty in this respect was understood as everything pertaining the economic aspects affecting the family. The freedom to work and fiscally take care of the family, basically everything that economically impacts the family.

The Pursuit of Happiness was understood by our Founders as freedom to live a virtuous life so that in the end a person, after having live well spiritually, would be able to spend Eternity with God."

I believe you to have both somewhat wrong.
Liberty meant much more than economics and family. Specifically, it meant freedom from oppression and excessive central government rule.

The Pursuit of Happiness meant the same as Liberty no matter a person's spirituality. I've always thought that phrase to be a bad replacement for the original, "Property" during the Constitutional debates. Pursuit of Happiness is a given if you have true Liberty.

Yes, the FF's were spiritual men. Beside their references to God, much of what they based the Constitution on was from looking at history and the inherent traits of mankind. That's why they created a "Constitutional Republic" and not a democracy (mob rule).

As a founding member of Veterans for Constitutional Restoration (VetsCor), I've probably forgotten more about the Founding Fathers' debates, journals, letters, publications, and personal histories than you currently know. Let's just agree to disagree if you like - don't want to start a citation exchange. I know what they stood for and it was more than you state.

I am talking of a particular theme I have picked up by reading our Founders and especially reading those authors that our Founders read.

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness was more than a popular catchy phrase. Each of those words have an extremely deep meaning that most people just pass over as they are reading the words.

For example, when people today read "Pursuit of Happiness" they tend to think it means whatever makes a person feel good. Our Founders would be horrified to think that anyone would take those words as a ticket for licentious behavior.

All of it relates to Liberty in the macro, but also each part has specific meanings in the micro which relate to the need for virtuous conduct of the people across the board.

All of them are describing liberty at its very core. To mess around with one of those words injures the rest of them.

The Bill of Rights were intended as measures to protect Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I am currently writing a book on the topic and have been doing research for the last eight years.
