It can then do things such as help ensure that they are eating or drinking healthily
Just how would these robots "ensure" these things?
I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees, and using these "helpful" robots for target practice would be a useful first step.

They are probably equipped with blood pressure monitor, temperature thermometer, and can check pulse, heart rate. and no doubt can determine dehydration.
The real kicker would be if they could prepare lunch...then I’m in.

This reminds me of a story I read in school about a society where at a certain age people are forced into an automated “assisted living” facility. The data concerning a young man is corrupt and his date of birth is incorrect. The machines grab him and put him in with the elderly.

What could go wrong? Nothing!
I say give them some rudimentary intelligence too, you know in case Grandma asks for juice instead of water. And, just to be safe, give them some rules, call them Robot Laws that way there is NO WAY they can ever be broken. They can be laws like, “I am to serve Man”.
What can go wrong!?
