New York police union tells Mayor Blasio he is BANNED from funerals of cops killed on duty - after he told officers they had to change in the wake of Garner chokehold death

The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association posted a form on its website Allowed members to sign a letter barring the mayor and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito from their service Say it's because of their 'consistent refusal' to show officers respect Goes on to add that their attendance would be considered an 'insult' De Blasio prompted anger last week when he said his black son Dante should be 'wary' when dealing with the police A New York police union has told Bill de Blasio to stay away from funerals of cops killed in the line of duty.

The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association posted a form on its website that members could download and sign, barring the mayor and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito from their service.

It simply reads: 'As a New York City police officer, (I) request that Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito refrain from attending my funeral services.' The letter then goes on to state that their 'consistent refusal to show police officers the support and respect they deserve' would mean their attendance is an 'insult'.

The mayor and the speaker released a joint statement condemning the move.

According to the Daily News, the pair said: This is deeply disappointing. Incendiary rhetoric like this serves only to divide the city, and New Yorkers reject these tactics.

Good move by the NYPD.

Two question to the members of the NYPD and their union thug officers:

1. “How many times” did each of you vote for your current mayor.

2. How much did the union contribute to his election?

I have said all along, the issue with the police officers and now the battle with the local democrat politicians is entirely an internal democrat problem. Democrat unions fighting against Democrat politicians. It’s best all other stay out of it and let the democrats fight this one out. I do know through the protests democrats are trying to cause trouble for independents and republicans, but this is an internal democrat issue

“Isn’t DeBlasio not even his real name?”

Warren Wilhelm

De Blasio was born Warren Wilhelm, Jr.

In 1983, he changed his name to Warren de Blasio-Wilhelm, which he described in April 2012: “I started by putting the name into my diploma, and then I hyphenated it legally when I finished NYU, and then, more and more, I realized that was the right identity.” By the time he appeared on the public stage in 1990, he was using the name Bill de Blasio as he explained he had been called “Bill” or “Billy” in his personal life. He did not legally change over to this new name until 2002, when the discrepancy was noted during an election.

Just wait until the NYC police start turning the other cheek to minor and petty crimes to make a point.... The mayor should always have the polices back....at least publicly... NYC will be returning to the good ole days of the 70’s / S

We've got folks here advocating for real that very thing, turning the cheek to minor and petty crimes.

They don't understand the successful Broken Windows philosophy.

They wouldn’t arrest him.A fallen officer’s widow spitting on the mayor would be a nice photo-op however.

I doubt many NYC police voted for Wilhelm and I don't recall an endorsement.

That's pretty sad...I know we tend to think New Yorkers deserve the consequences of the POS they voted for...

But, lots of people in NYC are fine decent people who did not vote for the commie...I remember NYC in the 70's it wasn't pretty...

No one should live in fear opening up their front door or stopping at a red light...

The NY police have already been ordered to abandon the “broken window” theory. That is the “theory” that turned NY around in the 90s. DeBlasio (Kaiser Wilhelm) is a communist nut-case and I don’t go around calling a lot of people commies. The man married a lesbian in Cuba so he’s crazy as well.

Maybe my question should have been how many front line cops.

Out here in Californicator land, most front line cops are very conservative. While their superiors and union thug leaders are so far left, they make Moonbeam look moderate.

“The NY police have already been ordered to abandon the “broken window” theory.”

Interesting and that theory was discussed by the cop family in Blue Bloods on one of the shows.

Look at any city where they allowed left wing protesters to destroy businesses and down town areas in protest riots. Those cities or areas have never recovered even decades later.

I didn't know that Wilhelm already abandoned "broken windows". That's really too bad for NYC. Arresting people for illegal solicitations was part of it.

People here think that Mayor Wilhelm ordered a crackdown on illegal solicitations including illegal cigarettes. They don't understand that Wilhelm is philosophically AGAINST making such arrests.

In actuality, it was police Chief Banks who simply ordered the police to investigate COMPLAINTS by STORE MERCHANTS about illegal cigarette sales being made in front of their stores.

Folks, including some of our conservative talk show hosts don't realize that they are actually taking the Wilhelm/Dinkins side when they go against local merchants and people who don't want to be harrassed by thugs making illegal solicitations.

Anybody remember the days of the squeegee people or the days of Mayor Dinkins.

They are returning and we have some conservatives, who don't know what they are talking about, who are supporting it.

That is exactly what happened in Newark NJ; it is called “de-policing”. I guess it was the inevitable result of the recipients of the service (the public) not being the same people paying for it (the taxpayers in surrounding communities).

One step that had no noticeable impact at all was taken a few years ago: They laid off 160 cops.

I do get your point. Since the sale of loosies is illegal, I guess they have to pursue it. I think it’s a stupid law, though. I had a friend arrested for selling them but she owned her own grocery store and bothered no one.

And, you’re right, these guys may be menaces to local businesses. I wouldn’t want some hulking guy standing outside my shop attracting other non-desireables. I worry we are going to return to the day when every shopkeeper had locked doors.

This might be fun to watch. It’s definatly popcorn time.
I’d like to see the mayor say “I’m banned from the funeral, huh? How’s a 30% cut in NYPD’s budget sound?”

What kind of IDIOT mayor ticks off his police? Nice job of hiding Wilhelm’s Marxist ideology from the voters, media.. The gift that just keeps on giving.
