I hate the sins and the sinners

I have never understood why people ever feel compelled to say they hate the sin, but not the sinner. I think it was Jesus who first said those words, so I suppose Christians want to present themselves in the best possible light in hopes of getting a place with a pool in Heaven. Even though I’m not a Christian, I’m certainly willing to grant that Jesus was a much nicer guy than I am. Still, it seems fairly obvious that without sinners, those pesky sins would quickly disappear.

To my way of thinking, Barack Obama is the single biggest sinner in America. I don’t believe that anything he says or does is in the best interests of our nation. Instead, everything comes down to partisan politics with this schmuck, whether it’s attacking the police, refusing to green-light the Keystone pipeline or trashing the Constitution. On top of everything else, he sets a bad example for young people by being a hypocrite and a serial liar.

"I have never understood why people ever feel compelled to say they hate the sin, but not the sinner."

This has to do with the Stockholm syndrome imo.

Stockholm syndrome

A related expression is “peace at all costs.”

Matthew 24:9 shows that Jesus taught that Christians will be persecuted and hated by all all nations because of Him. But since many Christians don’t want to be persecuted and hated (give up friendships, get ridiculed as examples) they cave in to belligerent sinners by tolerating sin which gets us back to the Stockholm syndrome and “love the sinner, but hate the sin."

I know it is sinful, and I won’t twist words in the Bible to delude myself, but IMO there is time for love and there is time for killing.

Exacting civil justice, or engaging in "just" warfare is one thing. "Hating sinners," as Mr. Prelutsky so blithely endorses, is something else altogether, as a theological matter.

But, again, as someone else has pointed out, Mr. Prelutsky would not appear to be a Christian.

Do you think that when men are sent to war (not the BS going on now with rules of engagement), that those fighting to kill were loving the enemy?

“Hey Sarge, I see 5 guys over there that just attacked us and left 3 of us dead. I love them, dearly, and pray for them” as the guy shoots off a mortar in their direction.

What I’m saying is that in war, and we are at war in this Country right now, you are going to have to get some hate going on to destroy those that are doing the destroying.

I wish love and prayer by itself was the answer. No loving going on in a War no matter what the Bible says.

And God says through His inspired apostle Paul in Romans 13:3 and 4 in the New Testament that the law should execute criminals. How anyone could read this passage and not understand that God expects capital punishment for criminals is breathtakingly strange.

It is simply because all mankind, even those we consider the worst among us, were created in God’s image.

Do they know exactly what truth as Jesus did? Or do they know EXACTLY what they have been given to know, in very much the same way as God gave our Faith.

Luke 12:48
But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

The Left class our resident as the Messiah, I say the only truth he knows is darkness itself. To say that he has been given the light of trut.h is a stretch.

I agree with you on this.....

One does not need to Hate someone in order to take their life.

I would hate myself forever if I stood by and let some one harm those I love and did nothing to stop them. I hope I never have to take the life of another, but if I do, it won’t be because of Hate. Besides I would rather face my maker having stopped some one taking multiple of lives, than facing God having done Nothing.

Loves them so much He warns them over and over and over about Him having to send them to hell. He also healed many who lived in cities that did not repent and He warns them that their judgment will be worse than that of Sodom.

His life on earth as the Servant was the life we are to emulate. His life as the Great King will have added authority to judge with justice.

David, a warrior king, Loved by God and promised his kingdom would last forever (through the Messiah), said in Psalm 139:

19 O that You would slay the wicked, O God;
Depart from me, therefore, men of bloodshed.
20 For they speak against You wickedly,
And Your enemies take Your name in vain.
21 Do I not hate those who hate You, O Lord?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
22 I hate them with the utmost hatred;
They have become my enemies.

David is the prototype (flawed) of the perfect reign of the Messiah who asks some who are willing to die by the sword, to hold the line on great evil. He considers their sacrifice of life for their friends as the greatest love. Hard for most to grasp but many Psalms reveal Christ the KING.

I think when Jesus was arrested and allowed Peter to bring the sword, that He was comforted a tiny bit at the thought of the future when He would reign and upon His return, show just how much He hates evil.

Psalm 139 is often referred to by Pro-lifers, too. It’s my favorite.

By the way Jesus Christ said “THE LOVE OF money

Go back and read my reply and you will find that I already knew that, that being the point of my post.

Concerning what Augustine said, whatever he said is beside the point that I made when I stated that it was not in the bible.
