The college students described as friends of the alleged rape victim Jackie in an explosive Rolling Stone article revealed their identities to ABC News today, and said that some of the magazine's story is false.

"The text was so divergent from what we said that evening," said Alex Stone, who said he's identified as "Andy" in the article.

The magazine article describes a violent, three-hour gang rape that left a University of Virginia student identified as Jackie bruised and bloody when she escaped a house on fraternity row, right near the university president's office.

Yeah it is both sad and hilarious. She made the whole thing up to try and get this guy to feel sorry for her.

I'm surprised that the WaComPo didn't declare the rape as "Fake, but accurate." (tm--cBS News)

I think that's the University president's position.

No supposedly she is still in school. The crazy thing that I don’t understand is that Jackie had been attending rallies for months at the school retelling her horrific story. And none of these “advocates” ever contacted the police. That should be the story right there.

the clue to why the Washington Post investigated the story is that it was not their political or national staff who did so, but the lowly reporters who cover local news. Those reporters were familiar with the University and had contacts to help them find out what really happened.
