Venezuela: U.S. flooding market with fracking-produced oil

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro blasted the United States Wednesday for its large-scale use of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, saying it is flooding the market with oil produced with environmentally destructive methods.

The United States, one of the world's biggest practitioners of fracking, a controversial technique that involves pumping a pressurized fluid - usually composed of water, sand and chemicals - into a shale formation to create a fracture in the rock layer and release trapped petroleum or natural gas - has used that technology to double oil output to 8.5 million barrels per day in six years.

El Puerco Hugo Chavez checked out after causing so much angst and shipped off beyond to meet up with Simon Bolivar before the SHTF in Venezuela. I bet Simone B. is pizzed off at Hugo for exhuming his remains.

I don’t think this would be necessary but the geopolitical ramifications of US drilling are so profound the government subsidies to make it happen would be cheaper than a wide array of other options.

The possibility of destabilizing or crushing governments such as Venezuela, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, ISIS, and broadly reducing profit to terror friendly states is vitally important.

The possibility of not having to militarily rescue the oil supply of China with our own 5th fleet is an incredible shift in power toward us.

I was with you up until that statement. There’s either a typo in there, or else I just don’t understand it.

Chavez, and now Maduro, are not dictators. They get elected

I suppose you wouldn't call Adolf Hitler a dictator, either. He was elected.

I am just pointing out that we can actually affect China as well because we will not only be self sufficient for oil and gas but we can affect China’s vulnerability as the new dominant consumer of fossil fuels.

China will not be able to provide its own supply as we will.

What’s worse: the U.S. flooding the market with oil earned through innovation, investment, and hard work, or Venezuela, flooding the market with oil stolen from the companies who used their innovation, investment, and hard work to discover and produce it.

Fraked wells only produces oil in large quantities for a few years. I think the Saudis know this.
