20 key findings about CIA interrogations
Washington Post ^ | 12/9/14

Almost 13 years after the CIA established secret prisons to hold and interrogate detainees, the Senate Intelligence Committee released a report on the CIA’s programs listing 20 key findings. Click a statement below for a summary of the findings:

1 “not an effective means of acquiring intelligence” “The CIA’s use of its enhanced interrogation techniques was not an effective means of acquiring intelligence or gaining cooperation from detainees.”

The Committee finds, based on a review of CIA interrogation records, that the use of the CIA's enhanced interrogation techniques was not an effective means of obtaining accurate information or gaining detainee cooperation.

For example, according to CIA records, seven of the 39 CIA detainees known to have been subjected to the CIA's enhanced interrogation techniques produced no intelligence while in CIA custody. CIA detainees who were subjected to the CIA's enhanced interrogation techniques were usually subjected to the techniques immediately after being rendered to CIA custody. Other detainees provided significant accurate intelligence prior to, or without having been subjected to these techniques.

While being subjected to the CIA's enhanced interrogation techniques and afterwards, multiple CIA detainees fabricated information, resulting in faulty intelligence. Detainees provided fabricated information on critical intelligence issues, including the terrorist threats which the CIA identified as its highest priorities.

At numerous times throughout the CIA's Detention and Interrogation Program, CIA personnel assessed that the most effective method for acquiring intelligence from detainees, including from detainees the CIA considered to be the most "high-value," was to confront the detainees with information already acquired by the Intelligence Community. CIA officers regularly called into question whether the CIA's enhanced interrogation techniques were effective, assessing that the use of the techniques failed to elicit detainee cooperation or produce accurate intelligence.

While the program may not have been flawless, the Senate Report does not detail the successful uses of Enhanced Interrogation.

These summary conclusions are largely lies intended to deceive the public.

I could care less that 7 A-holes didn’t provide meaningful intelligence.

That they were enemy combatants, with a fervent and zealous religous motivation, is enough for me.

There are consequences for killing 3,000 people.

Those consequences extend to the leadership and minions.

Sohhhhh, eff em...

“seven of the 39 CIA detainees known to have been subjected to the CIA’s enhanced interrogation techniques produced no intelligence while in CIA custody”

Ok. Does that mean that 32 did provide intelligence?

Correct. The successful uses would have given information to our enemies about who talked and what they might have told us. Information which is still very useful in predicting the actions of leaders who are still currently active.

By saying it failed, the current leaders feel more emboldened to follow previous tactics, techniques and plans, without changing them significantly.

These “findings” are the work of Senate Democrats who did not interview a single CIA official responsible for the programs evaluated.

"seven of the 39 CIA detainees known to have been subjected to the CIA's enhanced interrogation techniques produced no intelligence"

or, in English, enhanced techniques had an 86% success rate in providing new intelligence, which was then used to gain even more intelligence.

Why some people are sooooo concerned about murderous scumbags is a mystery to me.

Yes, thats true. Since its written this way the motivation seems completely political. This is very unwise and those involved need to be publicly named.

Because those people are compatriots of those scumbags.

Any CIA reports are fabricated. That’s the way it’s supposed to be. That’s how you keep the upper hand. You don’t blab it all over the world. What a DA Obuma is.

Agree. Anyone who’s ever had SIRI training knows that if you’ve got intel, then its only a matter of time before you’re giving up the area codes of Luxemborg and Belgium to get them to stop.

In fact, the way we were doing the ‘enhanced interrogation’ it was actually possible to outlast the torture.

Done right, if you are kept alive and awake the right way, you’ll give it up.

the purpose of the article is to forbid the use of the word “normal”

His mental condition is abnormal. A person can wear colored contact lenses but it does not change the real color of their eyes.

He may wear women’s clothing but it does not change his genes.

The left is trying to make “mother” and “father” obscene four letter words.

There is nothing “normal” abut this (opinion) traitor.

The Senate Dims are pissed about losing their majority. This is their way of sticking a finger in the eye of Bush, the CIA and the country one last time.

Don't believe anything in this thoroughly political document.

...seven of the 39 CIA detainees known to have been subjected to the CIA's enhanced interrogation techniques produced no intelligence while in CIA custody...

How many of the 2,400+ people killed in Obama drone strikes produced no intelligence? This includes women and children, and that's only in the first 5 years of Odrone attacks.
