Another Democrat Falls. Republicans Still Won’t Listen (call your congressman/senator!)

The Republicans now have their largest majorities in Congress since World War II. Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA)has been defeated in a runoff in Louisiana. Former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards went down to defeat too.

Republicans will have a solid majority in both houses of congress in January. They will have that majority because they ran opposed to Barack Obama. They ran campaigning on the eradication of Obamacare and stopping the President’s then planned executive amnesty plan.

The Republicans told the voters that if the voters would stand with the GOP, the GOP would stand for them against Barack Obama.

The voters listened, gave the GOP what it wanted, and the GOP immediately thereafter moved the goalposts. They preemptively surrendered and now want to both nibble at Obamacare instead of end it and they want to fund the President’s immigration plan.

House Republicans, this week, are set to fund Barack Obama’s amnesty plan with the help of House Democrats.

If you want to stop amnesty, you must flood the offices of members of congress with phone calls. There’s no other way. They need to hear from you and that you demand they keep their promises.

RedState has a call center. Click this link and you can put in your zipcode. That will show you your member of congress’s phone number. Call them.

But when you call, you must do something specific. You must tell your congressman to oppose the rule on the continuing resolution in addition to the continuing resolution itself.

If your congressman votes for the rule, the continuing resolution can come to the floor of the House and Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) can rely on Democrats to pass it. The rule must be opposed. Call now.

“The Rule” is similar to cloture in the senate. It’s an obstacle in the process to slow legislation.

I’m thinking that GOP will be no more in 2016.

Sad to say, I’m also beginning to think that there may only be one way to change the slime of liberals, and that way does not involve voting.

Well, it didn’t work too well for us this past Election cycle. I can’t think of one RINO incumbent who was defeated in the GOP Primaries. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Time for a true second party. The Uniparty has no competition.

Perhaps my view is colored by the TX results where we did pretty well in-state. Nationally? Yes, there's work yet to be done.

Brat defeated Cantor and then the Liberal GOP started playing hardball with Conservatives. The Liberal wing of the GOP must be destroyed.

This is the very last chance to politically move America in the right direction. If this doesn’t work then it gets ugly.

With apology to the Monty Python group:

The GOP is no more! It has ceased to be! Its expired and gone to meet its maker! Its stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! Its metabolic processes are now ‘istory! Its off the twig! Its kicked the bucket, its shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-PARTY!!

We picked off one incumbent each cycle in 2010 and 2012. We also saw a sh-load of Dems not run for re-election over that time, including this year. Mississippi should have been our ‘1’ in 2014, if not for racist activities by our own party.

We have the party leadership and big money now lined up against us. So, the question is what is next. IMO, the focus has to be on the House. They have to run every two years, and if it is clear a core group from their base is willing to leave the congressional line blank or go third party in 2016 (a heavy turnout year on the left), then they’ll get off their butts. Self-preservation is key. We need to be active in Senate races, too, as in the past, but the key is the House. The Senate always lags in responsiveness because they only run every six years and can easily outspend when needed. It’s really, really hard to beat incumbents in Senate primaries. We’ve gone from basically 2-3 conservatives in the Senate to more than 10 in three cycles. It’s heavy lifting, and slow, unfortunately.

Eric Cantor. After his defeat, the GOP Establishment went nuclear ... see the execrable Thad Cochran, for example.

You’re right. How the heck could I have not remembered that? That was the only one, but it was a biggie. I’m just waiting for Thad Cochran, Pat Roberts and John McCain to die and go to hell. Then we’ll be rid of them.

I agree. The best way to turn the Senate conservative is to first turn the House. That would give a bench from which to draw conservative Senate candidates and would provide an institutional counterweight to the Senate’s uniparty, statist tendencies.

Keep it down!

If Cochran wakes up he could be nasty.
Once, long ago, the Pauls put out a list of the many geriatric drugs taken by their colleagues and their side-effects. Many of these 'RINO Good Ole Boys' are out of it on a daily basis. Congress is really a sort of ASSisted Living Facility, with assorted Granpas and Grandmas signing away our rights to the ranch, without reading the contract.
